Favorite FPS Games

by psykhophear

Out of all the FPS games, I still haven't played Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64. I only played the Nintendo DS version, which is a remake much like the Nintendo Wii version.

Arranged in order and one game per franchise rules apply.

Doom 3

1. Doom 3

My all-time favorite FPS game. Doom 3 may not be as classic or memorable as its predecessors but I still think it's an impressive and majestic FPS game if you'd give it a chance.

Quake

2. Quake

The first FPS game I ever touched and it still sticks to me as the best of the best. Forget about the Strogg plot line and all that crap you see from Quake II, III, IV and Enemy Territory. The original Quake with its Cthulhu-ish theme, scary ambience and horrific enemies is what makes it special and unique.

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

5. Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth

While the shooting mechanics may not be its biggest asset, Call of Cthulhu is outstanding when it comes to storytelling, atmosphere and believable voice acting. It's a game that truly makes you feel attached with the protagonist like no other.

System Shock 2

6. System Shock 2

Even with outdated graphics and stiff controls, System Shock 2 is still one of the most remarkable first-person shooters ever made. It has haunting atmosphere, creepy music, scary creatures and terrifying moments. Yes, it's a scary game.

Duke Nukem 3D

8. Duke Nukem 3D

What can be said about Duke Nukem 3D that hasn't been said already? Aside from its sequel that took 14 years to make, Duke 3D is still fun to play thanks to its catchy tunes, solid action and humorous quotes.

Deus Ex

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

10. Condemned 2: Bloodshot

What makes the Condemned series really stands out is not just the realism of the gameplay but its main character as well. It's a breath of fresh air to finally see the hands and legs of the character you're playing as, which in this case, is ex-agent Ethan Thomas. It adds a whole lot of difference because you often feel like you're some sort of bodiless brain floating in the air.
