Atmosphere alone could almost carry this game, but when you add in all the other aspects, such as the combat, stealth, voice acting, etc... it adds up to the single most satisfying single player gaming experience of 2009.
The most addictive game of the year.
Proved all the nay-sayers wrong. Valve can put out quality in a short amount of time. Not just an expansion, a true improvement in every way.
Pure fun. The thrill of destroying just about anything never gets old. It also had an excellent and underrated multiplayer experience.

Simply addictive. Take all that annoying base building crap out, throw in some loot drops and you got yourself a RTSARPG... Real Time Strategy Action Roleplaying Game. If only my PC could load the maps up faster.
A new classic platformer. Perfectly designed levels where timing is everything.
An amazing experience crammed into the DS. It fully captured the 3-D GTA feel while at the same time returning the series to it's roots a bit.
