People will probably look back on 2014 and kind of see it as a disappointment because the new consoles didn't bring as many new experiences as they'd have hoped.
But 2014 brought a game I thought I'd never see. In my entire life. An unforgettable highly polished Alien game. It is in the running for my Top 10 Favorite Games of all Time.
Notable exceptions that I still need to play...
Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition

It's not even a question. This is so easily my favorite game of the year. Wish fulfillment in its entirety.
It's just more Dark Souls... and that's really all anyone ever needs.
Abe is back and I'm so happy!
Surprised to have fallen for Unity quite like I have.
P.T. was an unbelievable experience. It deserves to be on this list.
What incredible atmosphere, creative gameplay and a gripping story.
Playing this over again on the Vita was a blast
I kind of feel bad about putting Ground Zeroes on the list. It's Metal Gear so it could just as easily top this list but I feel like that's being unfair to everyone else. Anyways, Phantom Pain will probably take the top spot next year so we'll see...
This game series continues to be a million times better than the TV show which I have long since given up on.
Ultimately disappointing for what it could have been and the characters mostly sucked but it was still a really enjoyable world and the multiplayer was surprisingly creative and refreshing.
