Man. If you look at my list it seems like all I play are shooters. Guess it wasn't a great year for me and RPGs and other genres. Hopefully that changes in the years to come...
Some games I need to play from this year in order of most anticipated...
Beyond Two Souls
God of War Ascension

Tomb Raider came out really early in the year but the second the credits rolled I knew it would be in contention for this award. I'm a long time Tomb Raider fan but I haven't really played one since, I guess it was Chronicles? Anyways, Tomb Raider is back and this game was incredible. One of the most finely polished videogames I've ever had the privilege to play. The combat is engaging and fun, the traversal mechanics and upgrade path are flawless and I actually cared about Lara and the story.
It was not easy picking Tomb Raider over this. I don't have a lot to say though, I feel like this game speaks for itself in many ways and the people who played it understand. I did enjoy the combat and stealth mechanics, quite a lot actually, unlike some. Enough to really enjoy spending some time in the multiplayer too. If I were picking best moment in 2013, I'd probably give it to The Last of Us, particularly that hunting sequence...
The only Grand Theft Auto I've ever completed. This game truly capture my attention with its great writing and brilliant characters. For once I actually cared about people in one of these games. The multi-character idea is exactly what this game needed, a different person to represent the many personalities that get represented across such a sprawling world. Maybe the biggest technical achievement of the year.
Tearaway is one of the most creative and refreshing experiences I've ever had.
Vita brilliance.
I love horror games. Gone Home isn't a horror game. However, good horror games cultivate an engrossing atmosphere and that's exactly why Gone Home was such a fun game.
Vita. Perfect.
Battlefield could be my GOTY any year, so...
