This game.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmazing. I wish I could go back to those days...
I literally played this game for 10 years straight, uninterrupted by any multiplayer game aside from Guild Wars. The thrill of getting headshots made the game amazing during its years, and after GO game out, it was great to just chill with all the drunk/high people in pub servers. I'd still play it daily if I didn't move to the other side of the world where nobody plays.
The small community made this game so memorable, we were one family (split between 3 major clans). The unique customs/mannerisms between individual players was also something that I have not encountered anything like since, forged from mixing in-universe behaviors with early-multiplayer gaming blissfulness.
The classic CoD had a Search and Destroy map type that was at a much slower pace compared to the entries since. It was a great team-based 5v5 shooter.
And the only modern(?) game to have welcomed itself nicely into my heart.
