MERCH!
Giant Bomb - a website about video games and the people that make them

Biggest gaming regrets (in progress)

I can usually eek out enough enjoyment from a game to where I can rationalize its time it had over me.  Perhaps I'll wish I would've waited and spent less on it, but these are the games I just would have flat out not wanted.  If you would give me a copy now I would hand it back with a firm "No sir."

Gears of War

1. Gears of War

I can certainly see the appeal behind this series, but there is so little about this game that hits the notes that I look for in a game that I enjoy. Co-Op with my brother made it bearable for one playthrough and I can't say I was sad that it ended.

Yaris

2. Yaris

This was free! I never though I could feel ripped off from a free game.

Sonic Heroes

3. Sonic Heroes

After a hiatus from Sonic games for some time, I happened to come back with this one. Haven't played more than the demos of one since.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

4. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

I should've known after the shakedown with Activision and Harmonix to be wary of this title, but I figured "It's Guitar Hero? How much can the screw up about that?"

Halo 3: ODST

5. Halo 3: ODST

After waiting until the holiday price of 30 dollars, my initial thoughts of the Halo 3 gameplay growing too stale for me subsided long enough to pick up a copy of ODST. I figured playing as someone not as off-the-wall heroic as Master Chief would bring about some interesting gameplay changes and boy I could not find any. Halo 3 with less health seems apt. You can still rip off and carry a fucking turret!
