Games Finished 2012

In the interest of remembering what I've played.

Finished will generally mean that I reached the end of the story/campaign/main mode. Unless otherwise stated.

Now that I'm focusing less on Xbox 360 achievements I should ostensibly be playing more varied and better games.

Pokémon Red/Blue

1. Pokémon Red/Blue

The Binding of Isaac

2. The Binding of Isaac

PC - Steam
11/01/12 - PC - Beat Mom for the first time.
8:00 play time
Note: Addictive; but I'm not that into it.

Mighty Switch Force!

3. Mighty Switch Force!

3DS - 3DSWare
16/01/12 - Finished the game
17/01/12 - Beat all par times
7:39 play time
Note: Great game, but really short.

To the Moon

4. To the Moon

PC
17/01/12 - Finished the game
Note: Really touching. Not much of a game, but the story works exceptionally well in what, on the surface, is a 16-bit adventure game with no voice acting.

Hydrophobia Prophecy

5. Hydrophobia Prophecy

PC - Steam
18/01/12 - Finished the game
3:00 play time
Note: Unfortunately it's still rather broken. I gave it the benefit of the doubt, but a constantly sub-30 frame-rate and a short, shallow experience do not make for a great time.

Super Mario 3D Land

6. Super Mario 3D Land

3DS - Retail
20/01/12 - Finished the game, first 8 Worlds
23/01/12 - Beat Special 8 Worlds & All Star Coins collected
24/01/12 - Beat every level with Mario & Luigi
25/01/12 - Beat the final level (without Tanooki suit)
33:39 play time
Note: I'm glad to finally finish a Mario game. The last level; 8-Crown took me more than 6 hours over two days. Despite that it was really enjoyable; I don't know that I would buy a 3DS to play it, but now I have one this game is practically mandatory.

Shank

7. Shank

PC - Steam
29/01/12 - Finished the game on normal.
3:00 play time
Note: Not exceptional; I felt like trying a game a little akin to Devil May Cry, but I never really felt comfortable with the combat and it got really monotonous, despite being so short. I can't even remember if I finished the XBLA version before.

Before the Echo

8. Before the Echo

PC - Steam
05/02/12 - Finished the game
Time: 11 hours
Notes: For some reason this text got deleted. Amazing game, couldn't recommend it enough.

Alan Wake's American Nightmare

9. Alan Wake's American Nightmare

Xbox 360 - XBLA
22/02/12 - Beat the game
Time: 11 Hours
Notes: Forgot to add this one at the time, as much as I like the original Alan Wake this one definitely reused too much, and I think the writing suffered trying to justify it. Combat was more of a focus too, which wasn't the biggest strength of the series, though I think it's perfectly serviceable I hope for more in the series, perhaps a true sequel to the original.

The Darkness II

10. The Darkness II

PC - Steam
26/02/12 - Finished the game 28/02/12 - Finished the game on Don difficulty
Notes: Added in July so I can't remember it all. I quite liked it and its art style. I hope the series continues.
