A joyous remake of an all-time classic. Maybe it's the strength of the source material, but despite the fact that you're mostly walking down elaborate hallways à la FFXIII, the strength of the story, characters, dialog, and combat were all so excellent, they elevated this to being my best game experience of 2020, bar-none.

A JRPG about about middle aged adults hitting rock bottom, banding together, and fighting like HELL to climb their way out of the gutter. Also, Ichiban is just the best protagonist ever.

Doom 2016 but bigger, faster, more intense. It loses some of the goofy charm of the first game and explores the "lore" of doom in more detail than anyone really cared to know, but it plays so damn well none of that really matters.
