Hitman

1. Hitman

No game has consistently given me more enjoyment over 2016. I regularly dip into it to do the latest elusive contract or escalation. IO triumphant.

Enter the Gungeon

2. Enter the Gungeon

Total surprise to me and a game I sunk hours into during the summer months. Spectacular Amiga style graphics and precise fun mechanics elevate this rogue-like.

Dungeons 2

3. Dungeons 2

[PS4 Release] Combines Dungeon Keeper style management with a fun RTS game. Platinum Trophy says it all.

4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Back on form and a new benchmark in video game story telling. This darker entry in the series owes a lot to the Last of Us but luckily avoids the nihilistic tone.

XCOM 2

5. XCOM 2

The plot is complete nonsense but luckily the gameplay twists on the predecessors work brilliantly. Challenging but a lot of fun.

BioShock: The Collection

6. BioShock: The Collection

Welcome remaster of my favourite games. Bioshock 2 especially shines. Video commentary and all the DLC complete a brilliant package.

Skylanders Imaginators

7. Skylanders Imaginators

Wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. The Imaginators finally allows Toys4Bob to achieve what they messed up with TrapTeam. Creative and fun.

Ratchet & Clank

8. Ratchet & Clank

Incredible looking game and the way you should remaster a classic.

9. SteamWorld Heist

[PS4 Release] Didn't click with me on 3DS but the larger screen really helps the gameplay, and removes some of the unfairness I felt with the original release. Cracking turn-based strategy game.

Crypt of the NecroDancer

10. Crypt of the NecroDancer

[PSVita release] Vita feels like the natural home for this entertaining rhythm action rogue-like. Plug in headphone and enjoy!
