Persona 4 Golden

1. Persona 4 Golden

The party has great chemistry in the game and might be my favourite cast in an RPG. Music is unique for the genre and very memorable. Golden release further strengthened what was already a fantastic game.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

2. The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky

Plus The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC Great world-building that pays off so well over the course of the two games. Has my favourite female protagonist in Estelle who is a joy to follow on the adventure. One of the rare RPG's that doesn't have a party member that I slightly dislike.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The only game that I've played that has the combination of brilliant main and side quests. Many characters are fleshed out, and the voice acting is pretty great. I honestly think that could a Ciri focused game could work really well if they decided to do it.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

7. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

8. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

I completely changed my mind on the battle system compared to my initial impressions. I've ended up putting 100 hours into the game and the battle system is one of the best aspects of the game.

Suikoden II

Chrono Trigger

10. Chrono Trigger

I normally don't like ATB but it really works well in this game. Every aspect shines in this game and the shorter playtime is used to perfection. There's a battle in the game where the intro dialogue is timed with the background music and it is an incredible moment.
