I played so many amazing games this year, and finished almost literally none of them. The exception being The Forgotten City and Spec Ops: The Line (both great btw) which took a combined time of 12 hours max.
I'm currently on vacation and far and away from my consoles and gaming PC, so there's no way I'll be able to finish the games I list below. However I hope to finish all of them by the end of next year.
The listed start dates are estimates because I'm too lazy to check Steam.

PLAYED: November I have craved a true role-playing experience in a video game where the game gives you agency in the story and reacts to who you are based on your choices. As a huge fan of the genre, I've played many RPGs and none of them have felt as much as a true RPG experience as Disco Elysium has made me feel. I'm about 25 hours in, and I believe I'm at a turning point in the game? (The main quest objective tells me as such anyways) And I only put it down because I had so much inner turmoil on how to resolve certain side-quests. I really, really, really want to finish this game and it will probably be the first one I finish out of this list.
PLAYED: January This game is too much. The sandbox-y feel too the gameplay, and wide open world is literally TOO MUCH for my tiny brain. I am intimidated to even load the game up again, and I haven't even progressed that much. (The last thing I remember was reaching the first memory in front of the snow mountain.) I definitely see how some consider this to be one of the greatest video games of all time.
PLAYED: April I used to be a HUGE SMT fan after finding out about Persona in 2014. I was following every inch of news about Persona 5, since the first teaser with the empty chairs. I bought every SMT release, the 3DS re-releases, and Persona spin-offs (even the dancing game). I emulated almost every Megaten release including the SMT1 on NES, and the weird children's game on Gameboy. However, since the release of Persona 5, I have largely tuned out since then. I'm saying this because Strikers completely blew away my expectations. I came in expecting a Dynasty Warriors re-skin, with a story loosely related to the Persona 5 crew as that was what I came to expect from Persona spin-offs after DaN and Arena. Instead, it might as well have been Persona 5-2 with action RPG elements and a surprisingly deep combat system instead of being turn-based. I dropped it about 12 hours in? I have no specific reason why, but that's a recurring theme throughout most of this list anyway. Hoping to finish it soon.
PLAYED: Never Technically doesn't count since I still haven't even launched the game but whatever. I pre-ordered this game expecting to completely no-life it like I did with every other Yakuza game I played and I STILL haven't gotten around to playing it. I love the Yakuza games, but this game continues to be on the backburner. It may still continue to be on hold if I decide to play through the remaining Yakuza games that I haven't played yet (3, 4, and 5).
PLAYED: August Don't have much to say about this one. I was convinced by a friend to play It Takes Two, but it never stuck with me. I could tell it was a very well made game and I understood the critical acclaim and buzz that followed it but it never made an impact on me. Not in a rush to finish this one.
