GOTY 2015

Here are the games I've played from 2015. I've ranked them!

Life Is Strange

1. Life Is Strange

I love the story, setting, and most of all the characters. It was so fun to live in the world of a teenager that could rewind time. I love that there's a smart gameplay mechanic that doesn't involve killing people and works so well with the story.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

4. Rise of the Tomb Raider

The effort in the environments is obvious and striking. Someone designed beautiful new art that looks old. I was blown away by a mosaic in an optional tomb! This game has some great set pieces and fun, varied combat to go along with them. I wasn't as impressed with the setting as the first game but it was still very well done and beautiful. There are many small things that make the world seem real: it's very dirty and broken and people seem to be living their lives (I stumbled on a funeral service after a large battle). It was a very pretty ride with some cool set pieces.

Tales from the Borderlands

6. Tales from the Borderlands

This game has a combination of great, funny characters in interesting situations. The actual interactivity of it is pretty light and there were times when I really wished I could be controlling the action. In the end, I still had a lot of fun and I'm sad to see it end.

Undertale

7. Undertale

Technobabylon

8. Technobabylon

Downwell

9. Downwell

Continuous falling mixed with a combo system makes this game a tense, rewarding experience. I just completed the game and my heart is still racing from that final boss.

Axiom Verge
