Dynasty Warriors meets Overlord
When this game came out, I heard only bad reviews and didn't buy it. After a while though, the videos and concept got to me, and I bought a used copy. The Game in itself is nowhere near perfect. It feels like it's running on the dynasty warriors engine, but there are less characters onscreen at once, and it looks worse. This is not a good game by any means, but there is something fun about running around as a zombie overlord. The only real problems with the game other than graphics wise, are it's gameplay and it's controls. The controls feel like they could use a lock on command, and sometimes in the middle of a heated fight, it's hard to grab one of your own zombies, or an enemy soldier. The gameplay is simple enough to the point of being too simple. If you aren't constantly turning enemies into zombies you'll run out of them pretty quickly, meaning you'll be on your own. This is consistent with the storyline, yet makes it somewhat annoying when you order your zombies to kill a random soldier, and they'll die themselves in the process. Another problem is the simplicity of the controls. you have two buttons for fighting, one for grabbing, one for jump/ rolling , and one for ordering zombies around. Techmo could have easily turned the left trigger into an alternator so that when you press the grab button you'll grab the enemy(or ally) you're trying to without any struggle. there are so many points that could have been polished or refined that were just left ignored, that this game that had an intresting concept, turned into a rolling ball that stumbles over itself.
note: this game gets two and a half stars because it has a strange addictive side to it that despite it's flaws might make it a cult game.
