Let me guess - you downloaded the newest Touhou on Steam, you started playing really excitedly to try it out, and then... then something wrong. Unexpectedly, you just ran out of your helpful continues. Actually, you didn't even notice you had a limited amount of them. Upon seeing the game was so devilishly hard, you look up for some guide or advice, and this is what you've just found, right?
So uhhhh.
I don't really know how to help you out, I'm a nooby as well, sorry lol.
However, maybe I could help you with choosing your character.
Each character fits a different playstyle. Just as their description tells you, it's something like this:
- Reimu: Homing shot, but very low DPS (don't worry, you may equip her DPS cards if you feel like you need them). A great character for focusing more on yourself than on actually hitting the enemies.
- Marisa: Bonus DPS in focused mode (Shifting = more damage, got it?).
- Sanae: Bonus DPS in non-focused mode (The opposite as Marisa, you'll get a bonus damage if you shoot while not shifting).
- Sakuya: Bonus DPS for "skillshot". Tricky to control since it just adds up to all the stuff you've got to constantly pay attention to.
Now, let me explain myself for Sakuya. If you've checked her out before, you may have noticed that, apart from your regular green, straightforward shot, there's also some red-blue copy of it, right? Well, that's the "skillshot" thingy I was talking about. Go left with your character, and this skillshot will also go left. Go right, and it'll go right. If you go frontwards, though, it will focus. Going backwards makes the skillshot spread.
If you SHIFT, however, the skillshot will "FREEZE" in it's last direction. So for example, let's say I go forwards, then the skillshot gets focused, and then I hold shift. For as long as I hold shift, the skillshot will stay focused.
Notice how characters also have different spell cards. I won't talk about them since after all they have similar effects, but you can sure test them out if you're actually willing to and see which one floats your boat.
