" No don't. Not even the suggested dream team of PC quick looks could inject personality into the total war series. "

" Remember the quick look of that King Arthur game? While the Total War series is far superior to it, quick looks of Shogun 2 will look similar to it. And that quick look was pretty boring. "You don't have to watch it.
If they decide to do it then they should bring Mike in for the Quick Look too since he has the game.

They should bring Mike Rowe in for the Quick Look; quite possibly the dirtiest of jobs." If they decide to do it then they should bring Mike in for the Quick Look too since he has the game. "
Bought it today, but only played a little bit. Looks amazing so far, though. I'd still like a QL anyway ^^

I have no interest in Total War, mostly due to ignorance and an inherent fear of yet another RTS system - one can understand only so many different systems. However, I'm completely open to being persuaded. If Dave, PC master, were to show me Shogun, I have a feeling my fears will be quieted, if only a little bit.
Total War has been reppin' it's own blend of real-time and turn-based strategy, since June 2000. Y'all should go 'n' git wid the program already." Also, never be afraid to take over Japan/Europe/the world, it's all a learning experience!

Anyway, Shogun 2 is dope. Definitely deserving of a QL.

But duuuuuuuuuude, it's so awesome!
Will check out Medival2 afterwards as well
" @Turambar said:Simple. Not all games benefit from a quick look, awesome or other wise. I love the TW series, but I don't believe a quick look will do it benefit, and much like the quick look for Etrian Odyssey 3, end up representing the game very poorly. If people want to see what the game is all about, there is a demo for a reason." Remember the quick look of that King Arthur game? Do people not remember the Napoleon QL?

30-45 minutes just isn't enough time to explain staff
" My experience with Dave quick looks in this genre is that he is not very good at strategy games. "How many Quick Looks have we seen where the person at the controls was apparently not very practiced at what they were supposed to be doing?
And strategy games can be insanely complex and difficult to encapsulate in about half an hour of video.
You have to invest quite a bit of time into the game before it starts to really get rolling. If they wanted to capture any action they would probably have to end up doing some custom battles. I've probably put around 10 hours into my first campaign so far and I've only had about 2-3 significant conflicts.
That being said, I do love the game and I'm all for it getting more attention.
Besides, if you want to demo a strategy game in a confined space of time, you have to know enough about it to show off the features in a strategic way. You can't just have one of those Ryan QLs where he opens up the game the first time and turns on the recording software. That works fine in an action-arcade game, but not Total War.
" My experience with Dave quick looks in this genre is that he is not very good at strategy games. "Does this really matter? I remember the Empire: Total War Quick Look was a rather poor performance (regarding gameplay), but I enjoyed Ryan's insight. I don't watch the Quick Looks to expose myself to "professional gaming", I do it to enjoy the insight of the GB staff, and occasionally, to get a visual demo of a game before I pay any money for it.
Course that's a bad example, because I think I remember switching automatically when you pick up the luger. You get the point. I think there is a basic level of competence necessary to demo a game for someone and give the best impression of what it has to offer.
