Ton's of potential but just falls into the realm of mediocrity 0

Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD Reviewed by Doc D StrangeI remember the first time I played Tony Hawks Pro Skater, I was in High School and during class all I could think about was getting the highest score against my friends. They're were a few friends that I can remember that were fucking GODS at that game. So I ditch alot just to play it. Now we have Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD and I was so hyped to have that nostalgic game experience that I'd missed so long ago.Story/GameplayThere's really not a story...

    Just not enough content 3

This is definatly a competent Tony Hawk game at the price tag of 1200 MP. The nostalgia around these first two titles was enough for me to buy it outright. For people that don’t have strong feelings about the Tony Hawk games though, they may want to pass. 7 Levels with an easily repeatable soundtrack will not keep a new gamer’s attention very long. A couple new modes and the addition of Xbox Live multiplayer is just not enough for me to recommend THPSHD to someone that doesn’t already have stron...

A return to the good ol' skating days 0

The early Tony Hawk games have always been fun to play, so when Robomodo, Activision, and the Hawkman himself announced plans to create an HD version of the classics, I was pretty excited. For those who were burned out or disappointed in the last few games, going back to the basics has really made arcade skateboarding gameplay fun again. This version of the game focuses on Pro Skater 1 & 2, with content from THPS3 coming later as DLC, and features a new look and online play. Most of the orig...

    No Offline Multiplayer 0

So, I'm not going to lie, I have not played this. I've played THPS from the first one to THUG 2. I own a PS3, Wii and a PC. But in the reviews I've read on Giant Bomb no one mentions no offline multiplayer. This has taken THPSHD from a day one purchase for me to a wait and see if it goes on sale or free on PlayStation Plus. Now I know this isn't a big deal for most of the readers here but I was so excited to get the money games of graffiti or horse going. It was such a part of me and my little b...

THPS HD. Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the past. 0

Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD is at best an exercise in utter incompetence, and at worst a predatory attempt on your nostalgia.Right, so the soundtrack is sparse and doesn't have your favourite track in there? Ok, that's opinion. There are only a handful of levels and your favourite didn't make the cut? That's opinion. The levels that did make the cut you hate? That's opinion. They cut your favourite Skater? That's opinion too.I'm not for one second suggesting that opinion is bad, on the contrary it'...

A Very Late, and Far Too Personal Review of THPS HD 0

Originally posted on: knowngriefers.comWhile very late, Chris had a lot to say about Robomodo's recent release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD. The original games have become celebrated classics, and THPS HD looks to introduce those games to a new generation. Or perhaps to sell those games again to nostalgic twentysomethings? Either way, it's not very good. Read on for a very long and rambling look at what exactly went so wrong here. The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater changed my life.Yes, I know th...

Lack of NEVERsoft is present 0

A new release in the Tony Hawk series is here, it's not a HD remake neither is it a new game, but it's a compilation of content from 1st two games from the PLAYSTATION 1. The remake first came out on the Xbox Live Arcade and it had it's share of technical issues, lots of clipping and challenges didn't register your moves that were required (School level Rails most notable) but you could get pass that. In the interviews ROBOMODO said that they delayed the PSN release because it's the most importa...

Robomodo just couldn't make it! 0

When I think about Tony Hawk games all memories are coming back. Almost all my game memories from my childhood have something to do with Tony Hawk games. I've been playing them since Pro Skater 3 came out, and never ever have I got so addicted to a video game. So I bought a skateboard, bought the next on. Tony Hawk games made me love skating and punk music, I've been skating for many years and I listen to a lot of music thanks to THPS.But after a while neversoft tried to make the games more real...

Poor Port but Still Shines 0

I'm sure we all remember playing the original Tony Hawk Games on N64 or Playstation and I am pretty happy that Activision has decided to bring this game in HD and on PC with Xbox 360 Controller support. My first impressions of this game started out with the game starting in 720 resolution with borders around my monitor.* There are NO in game video options. So you can't adjust resolution, Vsync, Anti-aliasing, etc. in game. You have to do this in the .ini file located in My Documents -> My Gam...

A weak ass attempt at bringing the THPS series back to basics. 0

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is a weak ass attempt by the folks at Activision to bring the THPS series back to basics.Featuring the "greatest hits" of the early games in the form of remade maps (e.g. School II, Warehouse, Downhill Jam etc) and a retro inspired soundtrack complete with music from the first two games, on paper this might seem pretty neat. Don't be deceived. Not only does this game feel unfinished, missing many maps that should of been included in THPS HD to begin with (e.g. Airport) ...
