The faster pace and increased emphasis on fast-shooting over stealth in both Splinter Cell: Conviction and Blacklist make the latest iterations of Splinter Cell almost unrecognisable from Sam Fisher’s debut in 2002. The Splinter Cell series has always been fun, but unfortunately more fun than good. The stealth game play even has the Metal Gear Solid games paling in comparison, but the stories and characters have always been forgettable as they were wrapped up in mostly political jargon. This review only covers the single player portion of Splinter Cell: Blacklist. Stabbing necks, hiding bodies, and avoiding security cameras are important skills to learn when becoming a spy, and Sam Fisher has long been known as the master of such skills. Unfortunately, Fisher’s last adventure (Splinter Cell: Conviction) removed some of these skills to make a more streamlined action game for broader audiences. I went into this game with relatively low expectations, but it does a magnificent job of building on what was great about Conviction and making it better in pretty much every way. The fact that both my single player and coop progress help towards my same set of upgrades, the grading of your play style between ghost, panther, and assault. Finally I'm as big a Michael Ironside fan as anyone but the new voice actor for Sam Fisher does a really great job here.An easy recommendation to anyone who li...

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series was once the number one choice for stealth aficionados, but with each subsequent success has come a desire to attract new audiences. Steath Action is still running strong 0
Some say that the Splinter Cell series has become 'too accessible' - I think this is just code for 'fun'. It's true that this latest game can be played through without tearing your hair out, but this is no bad thing. If you want to go crazy and 100% stealth your way through every level, you can - but detection rarely means death and restating a level. The game is well produced, and I had a great time with it - pick is up on Steam for < £15....

A common problem that afflicts many games these days is that they simply try to do too much, to attract as many possible players as they can.
