Story
The plot of Time Crisis 5 revolves around two new Agents who must track down a much older and more eccentric rendition of the series' primary villain Wild Dog. The Agents are backed up by Robert Baxter (Agent 2 from Time Crisis 2). The game is divided into three stages where the players pursue Wild Dog. The first stage consists of chasing Wild Dog through a plaza area and fighting him in a large mech. Stage 2 is entirely composed of piloting a chopper that is pursuing Wild Dog's train. Wild Dog attacks with a missile armed truck at the end of the stage. The final stage is a motorcycle chase sequence that ends in a shootout with Wild Dog where he wields a gravity gun. The game ends somewhat abruptly in its current state cutting to a strange potentially new character picking up Wild Dog's severed hand with a briefcase attached followed by a teaser splash screen stating that the story will continue in an update to the machine sometime in 2015. This update is titled "True Mastermind Edition". After this ending scene, the game begins again from stage 1 on a higher difficulty. A full clear of the game takes roughly twenty minutes.
Mechanics
The new mechanic is Time Crisis 5 is the addition of a second foot pedal. This allows the player to shift to different cover at any point in any stage. Use of the pedals allows the players to outflank their enemies who attempt to adjust as the players swap cover points. These pedals are also used to dodge projectiles that are sometimes thrown at the players during cinematics. Another new mechanic consists of time slowing down and shooting specific points in the environment denoted by their green circles. For example, there is a segment in which the Agents can attempt to gain the upper-hand on Wild Dog by shooting the rigging of his zip-line. These two new mechanics are explained by the two lead Agents having some sort of super speed ability that allows them to zip between cover very quickly and slow time to hit vital markers in the environment. As before, the players can find ammo for power weapons that function better than their normal pistol by shooting enemies that wear yellow. The Machine Gun, Shotgun and Grenade Launcher are all available as they appeared in previous games. The only change to this mechanic is that this function is now relegated to a button on the gun itself rather than pulling the trigger while in cover.
True Mastermind Edition
Little is known about what this expansion will add to Time Crisis 5. After completion of the game, it teases that all stages will receive expanded content sometime in 2015.
