The Egyptian god of magic, writing, law, science, and the moon. Some sources say he was the son of Ra, though others describe him as being descended from Osiris, born from his father's head, or in some versions, a lotus flower. Thoth was initially regarded as a creator god who brought forth the four pairs of deities from the primordial waters. He was the scribe and advocate of the gods, and is credited with the invention of hieroglyphics as well as the 365 day calendar.
