The inverse of an anti-hero. An anti-villain is a villain that portrays him/herself as someone who is just and altruistic while is secretly working towards an otherwise nefarious and villainous goal. Common archetypes of anti-villains are politicians and religious figures who craft a wholesome and good-natured image to hide their evil intentions; this may even sometimes include doing good deeds, but only as a temporary measure to potentially further their true ambitions.
A boss fight is a culminating challenge that pits the player against one or more enemies representing a greater threat and/or difficulty than those previously faced. These scenarios typically feature unique antagonists.
A dark version of a game's hero, featuring many of the same powers. Usually wears black. Male evil twins often have goatees.
The last boss you face in a game, usually representing the final climax of the game.
This tag is for all games and characters that deal in the concept of gods, demigods, half-gods and the like.
Whether a character never ages or is invincible, immortality represents the inability to die. Sometimes this is a blessing, sometimes it is a curse. Either way it usually makes for an interesting game mechanic.
The concept of affecting the universe through supernatural methods, breaking the fundamental laws of science.
Characters that are initially portrayed as evil, but eventually turn out to be good or not as serious of a threat. This also includes villains who remain evil the entire game, but contain some sense of moral goodness or ambiguity.
The concept of being reborn as someone or something else following one's own demise.
The ability to change shape. Humans shifting into animals is the most common type of shape shifting.
Any practitioner of magic (wizard, sorcerer, mage, necromancer, etc.) who casts spells. Even unlearned scholars can throw a mean magic missile every now and then.
A tragic hero is a protagonist who makes several mistakes to fall from glory, or is affected by tragedy and seeks revenge or redemption.
An antagonist who isn't a villain by choice and is not in control of their emotions or a victim of tragic circumstance.
