The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo's flagship fantasy action-adventure series created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka in 1985, the Zelda series is the source of many revolutionary gameplay conventions, and continues to be one of the most popular and critically acclaimed video game franchises of all time.
Rumour: New Zelda Reveal at E3
Holy buttfuck crap yes. Sure it's another Zelda remake, but another damn good one, and one that would definitely translate really well into 3D.
Now here come all the people to complain about another Zelda game.
Yeah, a 3D version of A Link To The Past with polygonal houses and bushes ect (Like the modern Pokémon games). That could be cool. But it would still just be an old Zelda game rehashed. I think Nintendo should quit rehashing their franchises. They've been successful with their rehashes, why stop now?
@Scooper said:They were successful making a billion party games and mascot sports games but that's not how I wish Nintendo spent their resources. There's no reason why they should stop I just would like them too.Yeah, a 3D version of A Link To The Past with polygonal houses and bushes ect (Like the modern Pokémon games). That could be cool. It's the 25 anniversary of the franchise, E3 will be rich with Zelda.
I think it's something new, Ocarina 3D lessens the possibility of it being a remake of some sort. I hope that LttP game comes alter though. I'd love to see a new Wind Waker styled game on the new console, that's my biggest wish for the franchise right now.
Anyway, besides this, I can't wait to see more on Skyward Sword, we know so very little about that game, so I expect to be surprised by what I see. I hope these rumours of airborne combat are true. I've always wanted to see Epona take to the skies like Pegasus.
I'm gonna get reamed for this, but isn't the layout, weapons and story in LttP extremely similar to OoT, besides for the light and dark worlds? I know all Zelda games share similarities just ilke all Final Fantasy games do, but I never played LttP because it seemed too similar to OoT. Wouldn't that not be a good move on Nintendo's part to remake this, or will naive kids and hardcore Zelda fans not care?

I'm surprised that nobody has applied Occam's Razor to the situation and decided that they'll just announce more about Skyward Sword.
I'm surprised that nobody has applied Occam's Razor to the situation and decided that they'll just announce more about Skyward Sword. It's either this or a proper Zelda 3DS game. They're sure as fuck not going the Final Fantasy XIII/XIV route and announcing a Zelda MMO before Skyward Sword's release.
A new 2D Zelda for the 3DS would certainly make sense. This sounds very likely. I wonder what happened to those Capcom guys who made all the GameBoy Zeldas. I know that particular studio doesn't exist anymore, but it would be cool if they could get some of the guys who made those.
A new 2D Zelda for the 3DS would certainly make sense. How?
@Dalai:
I think you just gave them an idea. After all, Majora's Mask proved that they already have quite a few races for a decent base.
How people continue to get excited every single time there is something Zelda-related in the news, I will never understand.
@Icemael said:It's a Nintendo device, so it will get at least one Zelda game sooner or later. And it's not doing as well as it should because of an incredibly poor software library, so they'll want to announce as many new, big games as possible for it this E3. A new Mario and a new Zelda would certainly boost interest and sales.A new 2D Zelda for the 3DS would certainly make sense. How?
@Marokai said:It's been consistent, for sure. How people continue to get excited every single time there is something Zelda-related in the news, I will never understand.Because despite a few SLIGHTLY disappointing entries as of late, the Zelda series has been consistently excellent.

@FreakAche said:In some ways I sort of agree with you. The series has been in a bit of a rut for the past few years, but I think each Zelda game still has a unique and interesting feel to it that very few other games have even attempted to replicate. If we're talking about handhelds I can agree with you. But to see a series that has remained roughly along the same playbook since it's inception across an ever evolving line of consoles, I'm not necessarily sure I agree with you. If I was told I could only play a Nintendo console for the rest of my life I would love the Zelda series, but standards are so much higher, in my opinion, for a supposedly AAA role playing/action adventure game series on other consoles. I would just never choose to play a Zelda game if presented with a choice of another supposedly top-quality game of its genre(s).@Marokai said:

Remember that Zelda demo they showed to hype their GameCube back in 2000something? Yeah, that was nice.
