Information
The Tampa is a two door muscle car that appears in the Grand Theft Auto series. The Tampa appears in both San Andreas, and The Ballad of Gay Tony. It is heavily redesigned during the time gap of the two games.
San Andreas
The Tampa available in San Andreas is a two door muscle car, and it always appears to be in poor condition. The performance of the Tampa is not amazing - the vehicle has poor handling, and the top speed is less than desirable. The body of the car is two-tone, as if it was built from two different cars. This is one of only two cars in San Andreas that has this flaw (the other being the Clover).
The Tampa can be upgraded in the Transfenders mod shop. Like the Clover, if you change the color of your Tampa, it will become a solid color. There is no other way to get a solid colored Tampa, except modding files on the PC version of the game.
The Ballad of Gay Tony
In The Ballad of Gay Tony, the Tampa has been heavily redesigned. Rather than looking like it has been made from two different cars (sometimes called a 'cut and shut'), the Tampa is now a muscle car. The Tampa has a much
improved performance in comparison, and is reminiscent of several different vehicles. It resembles a Chevy Nova from 1968 until 1972, and the rear looks somewhat like a Mustang or Dodge Charger. The stripes on the roof of the Tampa look similar to most Dodge vehicles, notably the Viper and Camaro.
Trivia
- In San Andreas, upgrading the Tampa will still leave it with crooked license plates.
- The Tampa appears in The Lost and Damned DLC pack, during the opening cutscene. However, it is not possible to attain one.
- The Tampa is used occasionally for missions during San Andreas - you use one to blow up a crack factory, and again to puncture the tyres of another car.
