For those of you who have played through this already, do you recommend playing the first game beforehand for story reasons?

From the looks of things, you should just play through the first... and leave it there.

I would suggest playing the first because that's the game with the somewhat "interesting" story unlike Force Unleashed 2.

The two games are only loosely tied together anyway. Rent it for a night when you're bored because that's about as much play as you'll get out of it. 

I think you would enjoy it more if you didn't play either of em.

Ok thanks for the feedback all. Perhaps I will rent both one weekend!!

If possible I would suggest just watching the cutscenes for the first on YouTube or something, and play the second one. Gameplay seems at lot more refined in two, and it just gets boring in one.

I've played through the first one ten times. And from the looks of it, playing the first one seems to be enough. The second looks like a cash-in.
