The_Laughing_Man, Lies, Vonocourt, I don't know about you guys, but the way I've always seen it is that it makes perfect sense in-universe due to the way hyperspace is said to work. You can't travel in a straight line to where you are going, because you'd splat into solid objects along the way. Instead, the ship's computer has to work out a path to 'thread the needle' so to speak and the more powerful and efficient the computer, the shorter number of turns you'll have to make. So having a really good hyperspace computer would actually reduce the number of kilometers/lightyears/parsecs you'd travel over the course of a long trip, especially if you tweaked the tolerances when it came to how close you allowed it to cut the corners. I don't know if that's the explanation Lucas has ever used, but that's the one my pre-teen self came up with to explain it and it's worked for me ever since. =]
On-topic, this is pretty comparable to BF1943 at first glance. It even looks like the characters have the same modelers. o_O
Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures

Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures was a Free to Play MMO being published by Sony Online Entertainment. It was based around the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars and features characters and locations from the show. The game shut down on March 31st, 2014.
New Free-To-Play Star Wars MMO Revealed
Seems like an act out of desperation. Everything they've done in the past 7ish years has failed horribly. Milking their relationship with LucasArts + the success they've had with free to play, micro-transaction crap.
The demographic is pretty obvious, tweens with their mothers credit cards.
I liked the prequels, and over a long period of meditation and going back-and-forth on them think I have it figured it out when I say that people who shit all over the new ones and then herald the old ones...realllly didn't understand Star Wars in the first place. I know that's not a popular thing to say on the internet due to rampant gang passive-aggressivism, the number one killer on our world wide web streets, but whatever. I like most of the spinoffs, as well, including this new show. (one thing that drives me INSANE, though, is that this is called Clone Wars Adventures, with no "The" as a prefix. which implies the first, 2D show though it's clearly the latter 3D one. not to mention there was already a CWA graphic novel series. again, only bothersome to fanboys.)
So, no, this probably won't be as good as Old Republic. Or maybe even Galaxies (which I have yet to experience). But if it's free, who really cares? I'll definitely be checking it out, and if it's not a good game then thankfully no money was lost.
This game is aimed for my kids. My 10 yr son and 8 yr old daughter love Star Wars as I do and would play this game on PC. I'm just glad it's free. I might even give this game a chance since I pretty much enjoy the Clone Wars cartoon on Cartoon Network.
" Star Wars The Clone Wars is probably the only thing worth watching on TV now that Lost has ended. "I actually have to agree, 100%.
And I'm a little disappointed that so many fans simply shrug it off as a kids show.
The movie was a bit of a disaster, but the show has really been fantastic, especially the second season where it's matured a lot. Better animation, better storytelling, better character development.. A lot of people have critisized Ahsoka, but her story arcs and development have been head and shoulders above anything we've previously seen in Star Wars EU. It's especially nice to see a young Jedi that isn't just "in danger of fallen to the darkside".
As for the game? Doesn't seem to be an MMO as much of a collection of social minigames. Can't say it interests me much, but I'm sure the target audience will enjoy it. And critisizing it for being aimed at kids is stupid beyond words. Do you guys also flick through kids TV channels so you can make fun of all the cartoons?
Yo, I am 35 years old, loved the original trilogy, and have no problem telling you SWG is an unmitigated piece of shit. End of story.
SWG is pretty crappy but you have to give them credit that they nailed the look and feel of both Naboo and Tatooine. When I first started and walked into the Mos Eisley I was blown away at how much it felt like episode 4." Yo, I am 35 years old, loved the original trilogy, and have no problem telling you SWG is an unmitigated piece of shit. End of story. "
I can only assume you've never actually seen the show." i hate this star wars nobody dies the only episode i'm really gonna see is when asoka or whatever her name is dies "
For one, several characters have died. Many Clones are killed fairly regularly, some quite brutally. We've seen them cut apart with lightsabers, shot point blank, suffocated, exploded.. and there's even been several onscreen snapped necks.
The trailers alone have shown a fair amount of violence.
The Jedi have been a bit of a problem, because we already know what happens to the majority of them. One new Jedi character has already met his fate though, and several other completely new characters have recently been introduced that likely won't end until the end of the show.

I don't think that question ever crossed my mind untill it was mentioned on Family Guy. Even though i've seen the original SW over a dozen times it just never crossed my mind.

So even though parsecs are a unit of distance, by stating he has a ship that can do it in 12 Han is letting us know that his ship is fucking fast." @The_Laughing_Man said:I don't think that question ever crossed my mind untill it was mentioned on Family Guy. Now you know!
Why?" F2P sucks. Period. "
Runescape, Free Realms, Anarchy Online, Roblox, Trackmania, Steam, and PSN all rule.

The Clone Wars TV show is more violent than the movies, and the death count is even higher.

I should've probably limited it to F2P-MMOs... I've tried a couple of them and they all were pretty bad imho :(
But yeah, Trackmania is great

Thereby implying that Solo doesn't /really/ know wtf he's talking about, just trying to make his ship sound awesome; meanwhile, Obi realizes exactly what Solo is doing.

" @The_Laughing_Man: re-read my post-- the lines imply that Han Solo doesn't know that, while Obi-wan does. If you don't believe me, re-watch the movies. "Ahh so Han solo was just a dumbass then is what you are saying.

I got that he was saying the ship is really fast but like i said, i never gave it much thought untill Family Guy pointed it out. I doubt the general SW fans never gave it much thought either.
" Toxin066: I see someone else read the novels with their revisionist explanations."Heh heh. There's actually a REAL explanation for the parsec thing that from when the script was originally written that differs from the expanded universe novel-whatever thing, but I won't waste anyone's time by writing it here.
