Air moving with a considerable force from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. Used in games to slow things down, speed them up, or make them hover.
Boost takes a game to a new level giving players a greater level of speed. This speed opens up new doors to sports games, driving games, and any game that can benefit from the reward of speed.
Creep is a living purple organic substance. This is essential in the creation of almost all Zerg buildings. It slowly grows as your base expands and in Starcraft 2, the Overlord and Queen units have the ability to create Creep.
A quick burst of speed that propels the player slightly forward or backwards.
Penalties to movement speed. How far/fast the player can walk. This may depend upon difficult terrain and what type of gear is being carried.
Power Ups can be used to give the controlling character, or any other character, temporary or permanent upgrades.
A rocket start is an element that appears in most fictional racing games; it is an important technique to gain boost at the start of a race by accelerating at the right time. This technique is inspired by the Mario Kart series. It is also used in other games, too!
One of three playable factions in the game Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
The Shinespark is the charged jump maneuver that Samus can do after running at full speed, then by pressing down on the D-pad to hold the charge, then by preforming the dash move against a slope, and finally by jumping shortly after. This is first seen in Super Metroid. It really only needs to be used to view a secret message by Nintendo in Metroid Fusion. Samus can Shinespark horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
A gameplay mechanic which allows the player to move faster than the normal speed. Usually for a set amount of time.
Super Speed is the ability for a character to travel at speeds normally unattainable by regular humans. Super speed can be a stock super power by characters such as the Flash & Sonic the Hedgehog, or a technologically enhanced ability like Nomad in Crysis.
Players compete against the clock to secure the fastest time possible. This is often added to racing games for extra replay value and typically requires a higher degree of skill.
