Quoting the producer on NeoGAF and other sources, the PC version will have 4 player splitscreen local play, but not any sort of online play. (I guess at this point, theres no LAN play either)

“Truth is we did look at online support, be it GFW or some other method,” Lycett said. “When we looked into the cost vs the projected sales, the two didn’t add up. So as a result the feature wasn’t added to the game. One of the main reasons is that on PC people will steal it rather than buy it.”

So dont bother buying the game on Steam. That tidbit of 8 player online play is actually FALSE.

This is all that needs to be said... for the PC, 360, PS3, and any other version of this game.

Also... Giant Bomb forums need a strikeout option for text formatting.

@Coltonio7: I'd hardly say PC gaming is dead because Sega whines like a bitch about pirating.

There is one, . On the formatting bar, go to Insert > HTML, then write whatever you'd like to strike through surrounded by <s> and </s>. It works like magic!

I wouldn't say "why," but I might say "a symptom of how."

Is "whines like a bitch" really the right phrase to describe admitting that there's a shrinking market wherein either your game is pirated beyond being profitable or you're crucified for putting DRM in your game? Lycett wasn't whining, he was being a realist.

Thing is, a good online mode is the best mechanism against piracy, especially with this one being a racing game. The piracy will only increase now, given the game is worth pirating in the first place.
