EDIT: Honestly, a look back at a sort of memery is the sort of thing I've been waiting to see on TVOS. Something as broad as cat pics and the like, but maybe eventually a specific meme that's held the test of time could be good, too.

I thought this was supposed to be a feel-good episode, but hearing Jeff say that he hates cats made me angrier than every past episode of this show combined.

@goosemunch: Mr. Bakalar has raised my ire on more than one occasion with his anti-cat rhetoric, which is why despite being excited for this episode (I haven't watched yet) as soon as I saw the title, my stomach dropped when I realized the repercussions of a cat focused episode of a Bakalar show!

Having said that, if my dog was as cute as Jeff's, I'd favor them too.

I love cats. I love every kind of cat. I just want to hug them all. But I cant. Cant hug every cat.

Speaking of Usenet Usergroups, that section of Usenet is no longer available through the Usenet client as far as I know. The whole archive was bought by Yahoo, who then sold it to Google, which is why Google Groups contains all of those archives. Reading the early internet's forums really shows you how little progress has been made in terms of internet socialisation.

It’s pretty wild what dog people can say about cats that you are absolutely not able to say about dogs. if you criticize dogs for a second, people act like you’re history’s greatest monster. They’re okay. I have both. The cats are…easier.

People need to stop hating on animals, whether they're primarily a dog or cat person, it just hurts feelings left and right, being allergic isn't really an excuse..

Dogs are the worst. Loud, too big, needy, jump all over you, slobber all over you, barking all the time, chew up your belongings, can't go to the bathroom by themselves unless let out, they smell bad etc.

I also personally take huge offense at the "Cats will eat you when you die" thing... as if:

- cats just CAN'T WAIT to eat you and will do it at the first opportunity

- a dog is just too loyal and has too many morals to succumb to hunger and eat a corpse.

@voidburger: Ya, I don't get this either. The other thing is, like, I've seen dogs eat literal vomit; my cat complains when her food isn't fresh enough. She would probably figure out how to open the window before resorting to eating me.

@beggary: it's wild to me. There was a time that I would have considered myself a "dog person" if only because of my allergies. But since then I have adopted several cats and realized how awesome they are (and simultaneously beaten my allergies into submission)...and while I don't mean to cast aspersions on all dog people, I do think cat people love dogs while dog people generally DESPISE cats.

@voidburger The "negative political ad" ending to this episode was just *chef's kiss*Also jot me down for loving both cats and dogs, though I've only had cats as pets so far. BTW @sethmode I too was very allergic to cats until I took one in and gradually my allergy went away. A cat can literally sleep on my face now and I'm fine.

I developed a mild allergy to cats and dogs in my early 20s but I still love cats very much.

Thank you, Lucy. Jeff B is still confused and wrong about many things, and it's positive to intervene where you can.

@birru: I'm the same way. Grew up with dogs and never had a problem, but after living dog free for many years, my allergies start going crazy if I spend a few hours around a dog.

Getting mad at Bakalar for being anti-cat enough to show yourself to be anti-dog is certainly a choice, guys.

Especially when you have the option of laughing at Bakalar for being a baby about cold ketchup, instead.

@threeoct: I don't think people are getting mad at him. He just deliberately broached the subject by being anti-cat and, it turns out, there are people who are anti-dog.

The only real monsters are the people who don't like animals.

My cat was alive in 2005 and he is still with us. So maybe Pajamas the cat is still alive

As a dog I too wish dog people were happier about cats.
We don't always agree on things but I respect cats nonetheless.

I tried my best but couldn't make it though this episode.. Jeffs cat hate was just too much for me to bear and I agree that most cat owners are indifferent about dogs but for some reason dog owners just love hating on cats.

Jeff’s cat hate was barely anything aside from some light ribbing. Ya’ll need to lighten up.

Absolutely, 100%! It was hard for me to keep watching. I'm normally on his side, but this was absurd. Even if he feels that way, shouldn't he fucking muffle it a bit for the sake of the audience??!
