Quick Look: DragonBall Xenoverse

I want you all to know that I'm pretty sure I consistently refer to DragonBall Xenoverse as DragonBall Z Xenoverse throughout the Quick Look. Honestly, I haven't seen any vanilla DragonBall content in it yet, BUT don't be fooled... it's the same game. Also, it's kind of cool.

It is STILL over 9000!

I never thought I would say this about a DBZ game in 2015, but...this Dragon Ball game is pretty fucking rad.

I just absolutely love the continued coverage of Dragon Ball games, what a season.

@vinny: Any Dragonball content would probably end up like Terminator where you try to kill kid Goku.

Or at least I imagine it would.

Just got this game last night, the fighting is fast and fun. Looking forward to seeing what Vinny and Alex think of this.

was really interested in the online portion of this game you should have just waited to do the quicklook till you can show the full game!

The funny thing is that "pinto" is a slang for "penis" in portuguese... I was giggling like a 12 year old the whole time

@frankiebeanz: I bought this game last Friday for PC and played it for at least 20-25 hours (almost done with story mode and about half the sidequests). The online stuff hasn't worked ONCE. Hell, I had to switch Steam to Offline Mode just to play singleplayer because you're otherwise stuck on the character select screen with the game trying to connect to the server.

After how bad Ultimate Tenkaichi was, I assumed DBZ games were doomed to be mediocre/bad forever.

But yeah, Xenoverse is a fantastic game. It's like Destiny's structure done right and wrapped around Tenkaichi's fighting.

I honestly hate Dragon Ball but, I do love Vinny. Against all odds this game looks really well-made. It's colorful and compitant and looks like it might be real fun

I really like this game. I never thought I'd say that about a Dragon Ball Z game again. Also I'm five minutes into this game and I'm already dying of laughter. SPIRIT BOMB!

As genuinely awesome as this is, it kind of bugs me that we have gotten like thirty DBZ games in the last ten years while Cowboy Bebop is just sitting there.

I just want a current-gen Cowboy Bebop game where you travel around collecting various bounties while some killer jazz music plays in the background, god damn it.

I think only the most Dragonbally of Dragonballers would be bothered by that.

You should know that sort of combo display interface is very much similar to what they don in Dynasty Warriors, but I understand that name should not be spoken out loud here.

Game looks ok, but I think I'm all booked up with all sorts of stuff for this month.. maybe around the great game depression of 2016 I'll be able to check it out.

I must say, this game is surprisingly enjoyable.

I really wanted to like this game, it looks good, has lots of interesting what if scenarios, creating your own character etc but I really don't like the actual fighting part

The end of this QL is the best.

I bought this game on Friday and have put over 40 hours into it already. A decent amount of that has been either sat at the "Connecting to servers" screen or being kicked back to the title screen even in single lobby or offline mode.

But the reason I've stuck with it is because of how cool the create a character is and all the customisation available (skills, accessories and clothes) and the story has been pretty cool. The fighting system is pretty basic but satisfying.

There is also lot of good ideas in this game from the multi lobby to the parallel quests to the mentor system.

So yeah really liking it so far. Interested to see them iterate on this.

This actually seems really good. Might be the first dbz game I play since budokai 3.

I love that I can sell people on this game with "Trunks is Rip Hunter and you are Booster Gold. Go fix time by punching all the things."

Are ahn-eh-meeh games all pretty much arena fighters nowadays? I kean i guess it fits the best, just seems like they could get more creative with their genres. How i long for a deep Avatar rpg.

I'm sorry guys, and it hurts me to say this, but I don't like GBEast...

There's just something profoundly lacking to the Vinny/Alex combo.

That combo list is precisely how Dynasty Warriors does it. It is indeed handy.

I always felt the artists and game designers of dragon Ball were chronic meth abusers, who were just past the pinnacle of their drug soaked creation as they started the slide into the abyss of moribund psychosis

dbz games often hit and miss and i hope this is hit because been aegis since played good dbz game
