@vinny The ammo powers (like Flame Ammo or Armor-Piercing) aren't regular abilities, they're basically "toggles". You toggle Flame Ammo on and then you just have it until you toggle it off. It's therefore pretty pointless to map it to a button, just activate it from the wheel and then it's on for the rest of the mission. That's why Alex felt like nothing was happening when he was activating/deactivating James's Flame Ammo with the D-Pad: nothing is supposed to happen, James just changes ammo types.

I don't normally do it, but I yelled "YES!" loudly when I saw this pop up!

James is using his flame ammo the whole mission...

Alex never really got a handle on what ammo powers were in me2. It's not an active skill. it's just a thing you apply to your shots. In ME2 alex grabbed shredder ammo but never turned it on so he never got the benefit of the power. in this james' flame rounds only effect his gun unless you manually spec him to group buff everyone's guns.

Flame ammo isn't something you want to put for a squad power, and you don't want to have shields on your active powers in 3 because it's something you just turn on once and leave on for the whole game and it'll never turn itself off. it's much more useful to throw grenades and medigel on in this one because they're stock abilities that don't use cooldowns. (Especially squad grenades like the ones James has)

Mic's down a bit, gameplay up, that's about it as far as audio goes :D.
I watch Mass Alex while doing other stuff, i do want to hear you guys talk, but i also want to follow the conversations in the game without looking at the subtitles.

Akex using 1 gun (but equipping 3), having armor always on, and not mapping or using the majority of his powers.. RIP ever using a combo ever again. I don't know why but it's so painful to watch the combat sections of this. Other than that really enjoy the series and glad they were able to keep going!

RE: The critical path Vinny mentioned... you should do all the side quests available before progressing the main story. They are much better than any of the ones from ME 1 and 2.

The quality was still pretty good so I hope this keeps up! Rewatching ME1 and 2 while working from home has made the days go by a lot easier.

Can't say enough good things about your commitment to keeping the Mass Alex train rolling, guys. I can't imagine the hoops you had to jump through to make this work, much less to ensure it keeps what is effectively studio-level quality.

I'd bet the uncertainty about whether this would work remotely might be pretty nerve-racking. But rest assured, this was a major success.

God bless you kids (i'm *slightly* older than @vinny) for soldering on in these very weird times. As I listen/watch while also teleworking, that convo with Dr. Michel about hospitals being overrun hit hard. Anywhoo, your set up seems to be working fine. If you hadn't said anything, I would have thought y'all were in the same room so great job!

@alex point of clarification with James' power, your d-pad is probably working fine. You equipped James to "Incendiary Ammo" which is more of a passive power. Pop it once and he'll shoot fire bullets forever til you switch his guns (or the next mission). If you want to see an active power pop off, set James to "Carnage" which is more like a rocket launcher.

Your mics are a bit loud still, this was an issue in the last video also. I remedy this by watching this on my TV and it can do some "night mode" audio thing that makes the volume more constant. I know you're got a lot on your hands but I'm just letting you know since this was an issue last time, still it's not a huge issue. Again, thanks for recording this at all.

@alex you should scour the environment a little better, there are lots of weapons and mods scattered around

2. Conversations can actually be a little weird in this, not every important piece of dialogue prompts a standard shot/reverse shot "conversation", you might want to try exhausting dialogue with someone when you check in with them so you dont miss anything.

@xdeser2: Crew members also move around the ship between missions so you can get to see some interactions between them if you check on them often! You can check your map and see who is where usually.

@vinny The texture mods appear to have been disabled. I know y'all were gushing about how good the game looks at the end of the video, but there's a few spots on the characters where I definitely noticed that it's not running the proper 4K textures from the mod.

There's not a great way to fix this issue other than reinstalling the whole game plus the controller & texture mods. I recently went through the same thing, modding ME3 is a nightmare because you can't just toggle mods on and off. Probably not worth fixing when it's that much trouble, but thought I'd let you know.

It isn't the Xcom voice actor - but that Xcom actor has voiced Optimus Prime in more modern Transformers cartoons. So it all comes full circle.

Glad to see y'all back, the episode didn't sound weird on my end. Just some quick notes for Vinny and Alex:

There should be a Fish VI at one of the Citadel stores next time you're there, buy it. The VI will automatically feed your fish.

Check the Citadel map when you're there next, there will be an old Mass Effect 2 character listed on one of the levels that has the fish from Mass Effect 2.

Talk to Traynor when you start the next episode, she should mention something to check out. Do that mission first, it is timed and will automatically fail if you don't do it in the next mission or two.

"Shep Shep's gonna ship ship" is sure a thing to say.
