I just couldn't find the fun in the combat in this game. I really loved everything else about it though.

This game was fantastic. Wish it had been more well-received. Arkane just consistently makes my favorite games.

I picked this up on a deep sale last summer, it's really good! I kind of wanted it to be over by the end too though, it's just a whole lot.

Around 1:25 Brad mentioned Horizon Zero Dawn's story, and I totally agree, it was fantastic.

Love Prey and Rorie but man was this a completely manic stream. This game is really meant to be played very methodically and while I completely identify with Rorie int hat sometimes you’re just ready for a game to be over, rushing everywhere is just going to kill any enjoyment of it. Especially since the latter sections are meant to challenge you with tough enemy encounters that force some form of strategy in approaching them. Unlike Halo the combat encounters in Prey actually ARE combat puzzles. Brute forcing your way through is a painful experience that will dwindle your resources and most importantly your patience.

I love this game, the DLC was great too

I loved every second of this game. Had more of a 35 hour playthrough, of course.

The spawning Operator issue Rorie is complaining about, is totally not an issue, you get a mission to go stop the hack that is causing it to happen.

by Mick Gordon of "Doom: Rip & Tear" fame.

Edit: Also if you pay attention (and don't take a year-long break), the "operator gauntlet" is no hazelnut what so ever. By then you have many, many ways of dealing with the environment and its hazards beyond shooting it with a gun.

I'm probably being defensive because I like this game a lot but if you think the ending was hard you just never learned how to play the game. There are so many ways to counter the operators that arent hacking them but so be it.

I'm 20 hours in and got kinda burnt out but always wanna go back and finish it.

I played through the game first on the default difficulty, and once again on the hardest. The jump in difficulty isn't substantial. Figuring out each enemy's weakness, and getting the right tool or Neuromod to exploit it, effectively nullifies the challenge on any difficulty setting.

Prey is one of my favourite games, way better than Prey.

One tactic for dealing with the operators is to take them down to when they are incapacitated and then just leave them. As far as I remember they never heal themselves and as only a limited number of them can be out in the area at one point, no more will ever be produced by the generator.

Really enjoyed this game, sneaking around and trying to do most things the "smart" way. Then in the late game I finally spent the points on the time slow / stop ability (think its called Adrenaline something?) and ended up just destroying everything with an upgraded shotgun.

The quest structure is really cool, having characters and quests weave in and out of the main flow. Probably hard to come back to after a long time but for me it really worked.

It is such a good game. I have no idea why gb team have such a trouble beating it.

yeah i agree. 2017 also had Evil within 2 and Hellblade. Good year... and amazing resident evil 7

I didn't realize how System Shock-y this game was. I might have to play this.

2019's "2017 Game of the Year"!

Easily one of the best games of the last few years.

It's a real gem once it grows and develops. Well worth checking it out if you love Sci-fi and...er... lots of paranoia.

Giant bomb never gives Arkane games enough time. Seems like an attention span thing. They always end up pleasantly surprised when they actually check them out.

I wish i enjoyed this game. I'm pretty much in the same boat as Rorie, i found it utterly frustrating in the late game. To a point where i ended up skipping everything i could and just ran from A to B without pausing or exploring.

I never had any issues with the operators aside from the ones that attack at the very start of the sequence.

Prey is a really great game, glad to see some of it on Giant Bomb, even if they were playing it like maniacs. Likewise Dishonored 1 and 2.

The intro was killer. Also I loved Prey.

I waited for the Xbox One X patch before starting to play it. Loved Prey; definitely my game of the year 2018.

You deal with the operators by going to Hardware Labs and destroying the main operator, done, no more operators.

I was always curious about Prey so I got it during the last steam holiday sale and wow, the audio mix was the worst. All the people were very loud and in mono. I tried some fixes but they didn't work so I refunded it. Looking through some of the other steam reviews made it seem like this was still a very buggy game, ever after more than a year of patches and a major expansion. What a shame.

@jbick89: Its really nice to hear since it was overlooked during 2017s game of the year. The story and how it establishes the setting and "world" is amazing. Also i cant remember who said it but they dont look like Michael Bay Transformers

Load Our Last Save: The undervalued Giant Bomb feature

Such a disappointing game.

Ben mentions it was hinted that using typhon powers will cost you your humanity, so I decided to RP and didn't get any of them. The pay off was a single line during the epilogue.

"A lot of enemies"? Just various types of misshapen blobs, and flying trashcans. At least Splicers had some uniqueness to them.

And MGS syndrome plaguing combat, where you get all those tools and gizmos and environmental elements to kill you foes, but in the end upgraded shotgun was all I needed most of the times.

I think I hate this game, because of how much better it could have been.

Amazing opening though, ten out of ten.
