Regarding game patches: that also assumes the publishers care enough to make those patches to fix the game. Unlike say Warner publicly saying they are dropping support for a Batman game cause they have moved on even though there are still game-breaking bugs and DLC problems. I would also say Mortal Kombat but at least they changed their tune on that months after. But whatever, they got your money so fuck you.

You guys are the kings of podcasting. All that end of the year stuff and now you're right back at it again this Tuesday. It's almost like you guys are professional and take it seriously or something.

I know the staff like the "wacky, cooky, crazy" stuff, but I wish the Let It Die conversations would just...die. More or less the same things get said about it every time the game gets brought up.

I think this might be the best podcast they have done this year!

Who told Jeff that Vermintide was like a cover shooter? It's Left 4 Dead with Warhammer ratmen and way more focused on melee combat. I think it's pretty good, but none of those things seem like they would be his cup of tea.

Jeff talking about his winter break and how he kept saying "Shaky Jakes" over and over to himself and cracking up while his wife questioned his sanity is one of the most low-key hilarious things I've ever heard.

At the end when Lang writes in, I think he is presenting a false dichotomy by claiming that the only option is huge patches or just don't patch and leave the game in a sorry state. He's purposefully avoiding the consumer angle of the argument. I.E., wanting to just put an game in and play and not wait hours to blow their data caps.

I played that Frog Fractions thing back when everyone was talking abotu it and I never understood it. It was just a bunch of random little flash games strung together? Everyone seemed to think it was this super deep innovative thing but I never saw any of that.

Also as someone who used to play TF2 there is probably no other internet phenomena that I absolutely HATE more than ARGs, so that doesn't really help.

@feigr: i guess you either get it/are receptive to it or you don't/aren't. i didnt get TOO far into it but it's amusing to me the weird directions it goes into.

so is there ONLY one wacky boss cutscene in all of let it die? I was not happy with alex insisting on making them play that clip in the game of the year deliberations because I was driving when it came on the podcast and almost crashed my car into a snow bank it scared me so badly. it seems this is the only cutscene people are talking about so is there any other memorable funny boss cutscenes or was this just a one off?

On that huge Forza patch, according to Neogaf they accidently pushed up a complete developer version with dlc and unreleased cars instead of the intended patch.

i'd like games to "work" (to put it very broadly) out of the box but it just isn't ever going to happen in this day and age. you just have to hope it's mostly complete and fairly free of debilitating bugs, and that it gets patched in a reasonable amount of time.

well to be honest nintendo typically has polished bug free experiences in pretty much all their games (though some, not me, would argue they're so rooted in the past that it's impossible to ship broken)

i personally hate calling games broken 90% of the time when a game has issues, it seems such a blanket pejorative, and makes games that admittedly have obvious issues sound way more on fire than they actually are. but i guess it's a succinct way of describing the states some games ship in so whatever works!

Jeff I like Vermintide but I quit playing because of an experience similar to yours. Someone was scolding me for not having picked up a tome that I did not know was there in that particular level, then proceeded to vote kick, and the game did not allow me (what a weird limitation, it was because he was host) to vote kick him back while he was calling me some names in chat. Which resulted in me immediately uninstalling it.

I can't stand toxic communities. Just like with board games, if someone is being a real dick it can turn people away from a game or even games as a whole.

I completely disagree about Xbox One's speed. I am on a 100Mbps with ul/dl speeds right near that on the Xbone and those downloads take forever as do the installs. I think it is 6 of 1, half dozen of another as it seems Microsoft installs AND downloads tons of stuff at the same time. Downloading and installing Gears of War 4 took way longer than downloading and installing MGS5 on the PS4.

That being said, in regards to good internet, I've had the advantage of using EPB Fiber Optic for the past 6+ years and its worked without a problem. $58 for 100Mbps with no data cap has been a dream. I remember when Iron Man 3 came out and Chattanooga was in it they made it seem like our internet sucked in there and the theater I was in actually booed during that scene lol.
