Very curious to hear about their Kojima/Death Stranding take. Personally, I'm pumped that he's been completely unshackled from Konami/MGS and free to make whatever weird thing he wants.

As someone currently wrestling with PC issues and who is thinking about going to Windows 10, this is not comforting.

Let's set up a 1 on 1 with Jeff and Gio Corsi.

I was recording a podcast this weekend and I got that fucking Windows 10 message smack in the middle of the recording, sweet Jesus on a trampoline I cannot stand Windows 10.

I have had windows 10 for a while and I have never seen that error code

@billmcneal: I have windows 8.1 on my work computer and I see that error message once a week. It's the worst.

As someone who works in IT and does volunteer BSoD (read: kernel) debugging on the side, I'm both excited and worried to hear about this discussion.

Windows 10 has some of the least informative error messages I have ever encountered and some of the least intuitive interface features. Microsoft should be ashamed.

I'll say I've never had any boot errors or any error messages whatsoever. Which is frustrating in itself because the Windows Store/Universal App stuff clearly don't work, but even running Windows' built in troubleshooting tools don't find any problems. And it's a common issue that has been reported since the beta days in 2014 but still haven't completely been solved (every month or so they push an update that fixes it for a week only to have it all break again).

I'm happy I haven't invested in any Windows Store games other than the free copy of Minecraft I got for owning the original Java version, because with all these problems I wouldn't be able to play them.

From a security standpoint the most worrying thing is that Windows Update runs on the universal app structure and often has trouble installing updates because of it, and Windows Defender's update schedule also seems dependent on it, making it unable to automatically update its virus defnitions (though manual updates usually work).

I like to think back to that one email they got from a Biology major/grad at Berkeley who said "You guys get close enough." I'm pretty happy that I forced myself to use various flavors of Linux over the years and get familiar with building and debugging kernels. That said, I'd kill to just chill with some Windows XP...

I love Kojima and I love MGS but I could not give less of a fuck about Death Stranding right now. The trailers are just nonsense and I really won't care about that game until I see some actual gameplay and learn about what the hell you actually do.

windows 10 is the best operating system microsoft has ever made. go back in time to like a few months ago and read the comments from it professionals cringing at them talking and building a windows pc. agreeing with giant bomb "windows is bad" is like someone telling you at the drive in window that your transmission is going out from the few seconds they listened to your car driving past. i dont miss downloading tons of software prior to installing the os and booting up with floppies. ive had so few issues with windows 10 at home and at work installing windows 10 on 100 plus computers every couple months due to inteenal security policies and not issues with the os.

feelin more and more like listening to the audio only podcast is listening to a video podcast with the video stripped out, super frustrating

@madflavr: No worries, I've figured it out from the forums. Seems like it's an adblock problem.

As someone who has been dealing all every flavour of BSOD since 3.1, I'm pretty sure that this is not a Windows 10 problem, but a "I have a PC" problem.

On the other hand, Vinny's complaints about manually finding settings and stuff is 100% on point. Navigating the two different control panels often makes me feel like a Minotaur is stalking me.

On the gripping hand, though, Jeff's point that literally every setting can be found by typing "<windows key>drivers" or "<windows key>disk ma" is also very true. Search is the future!
