So here’s my take on the whole thing and people saying “they all talk about games they already talked about and it’s boring.”

Hearing the first 2 episodes I now think that that’s not the case. This is the first time everybody from every team talks about those games. Together. They obviously don’t listen to the podcasts from other teams, which also would be silly. And now they all talk about what they’ve played and what they think about the games they played. I think that’s pretty interesting and also a good thing for the team, and I totally get why they did it that way.

It may not be as good as the “old way” but that’s fine, it’s still pretty interesting and the other content and videos in the GOTY vein this year pretty much make up for it anyway, because those are awesome.

Just my 289 cents sorry that I wrote a book about it, English isn’t my mother tongue so it’s hard to explain what I mean sometimes.

Giving the game no credit for this, no matter what you think in the end, is really fucking silly to me when most companies are pumping out open world checkbox games that are all the same.

That's where I fall on the game more than anything. It's very interesting and unique and critics are constantly saying they want that.

Maaan, early access and the fact that GB now considers early access games for GOTY is really fucking Hades over. The best game Supergiant has made got just over a minute of time.

I know listening to them talk about Death Stranding for an hour is gonna upset me and I'm gonna listen to them do it regardless. You hate to see it.

The Death Stranding conversation was so cathartic to listen to after just finishing the game. I really enjoyed the game and I feel just as betrayed as Vinny by the end ~5 hours. The anger about this ending is truly a strand connecting Vinny, Alex, and I.

If Disco Elysium isn't in the top 10 I'm going to be very disappointed

Still no mention of Ace Combat 7. I thought you said no games would be forgotten?!

never listened to this fully yet but Death Stranding just about an hour.. I have been waitning for this the GB crew did not like this at all and I loved it going to be a good time

I think this whole exhaustively talk through all the games is just too much now. Two days of it was more than sufficient to have tucked into what 10 hours of podcast with no awards as of yet...is just too much

I like the new format andI don't miss the constant arguments the previous format brought with this group of people. I do like listening to the team actually just talking about the games of the year that matter to them. I never thought the old categories allowed for games to be discussed as a whole which is what I want from an end of year selection.

Thanks to Marino for the time stamps so I don't have to listen to all of these just yet. It enables me to listen to the parts about the games I'm interested in and I'll go back and listen to them in full some time later.

To be honest, I thought Abby would chose to remain quiet during the Disco Elysium bit, considering how much shit she got for the quick look...yet still she seems to persist in her preconceived notions about the game. Alex seemed to be surprisingly quiet on the other hand.

Aside from the Death Stranding Spoilercast talk, nothing here is new. I'm first wondering why they're talking about it, and second wondering why I'm listening.

I will have to see how it all rolls out together, but this year at least I like this kind of presentation. I get little blips about games I only heard about. So I mostly listen to it all. Amusing that Death Stranding is more than a 'little blip'.

I wanted more about The Surge 2, from the developers effort itself. I should have waited for a sale, but I paid full price because I saw a lot of promise in The Surge. Also I haven't had time for it till after the sale...lol.

Well see how it comes together at the end but as of now i enjoyed last year a lot more. I prefer the talks being based on categories rather than very surface level discussions about 90 percent of the games personally

Shenmue 3 is perfect

I'm pretty sure some of them actually do. I've heard them referencing the other podcast, from both sides, multiple times before.

Alright so see, in this context Abby presents a much more understanding argument and in a more understanding tone for why the stuff in Disco Elysium is off putting to her in comparison to the arguments made for God of War and Nier the year before for sure.

Both Vinny and Alex seem to have had a wildly different experience in Death Stranding than I did and seem to have come away with a lot of very different conclusions. Also, while Vinny makes light of that Die-Hardman speech that he's on the floor and Vinny just wants them to move on - that is a very good VO performance. Like the rain destroying "all your stuff" actually just refers to the Chapter 2 beginning zone, not the entire world. So I had setup a vast network of highways and ziplines throughout chapter 3 so when they told me I have to go all the way back East it was an absolutely breeze. I ziplined across the mountains and drove a bike across all my highways - which were all still there - and didn't encounter a single boss. I just had to fight the big whale that is a scripted even before all the lore dumps.

If anyone is interested in a slightly different take on the game then Waypoints Rob Zacny and Kotakus Heather Alexandra have done a spoilercast on it (found on the Waypoint podcast feed) and it's a real interesting listen.

After now digging into this for a few hours and finally getting past the death stranding conversation I still think that they just really downplay a lot of stuff and totally over look a lot of things if they think that the "we all need to come together" stuff is the only thematic beats the game ever hits.

But I rarely tend to agree with any of the staff's opinions anyways on games so whats new lol.

Just gonna go directly for the Death Stranding talk. That's the most divisive game and therefor the most interesting for me to hear the crew thoughts on.

This format doesn't really do anything for me tbh. It just too much talk without giving out any awards. It just seems a little pointless at some point. I would prefer it if they maybe kept these types of GOTY podcast to one. Then the rest will be the award podcasts.

I'm one of those G-basterds that liked the heated GOTY discussions back in the day. Oh those where fun times. I want the knives to come out.

For long videos, your servers suck. Can't stream videos on my iPad, and downloading them takes forever. I have gigabit internet; so speed on my end isn't an issue. Just host these things on youtube.
