Super bummed out about Gen Con. I've gone for the 4 days for the past 5 years or so. Each year 3 - 5 people from my game group rent a house, go to the con during the days, and play games all night. Always a really really good time and the highlight of my year. Obviously it's a good thing that it's not still happening with everything as it is right now, but still a huge disappointment.

@vinny: Re: Debilitating Back Pain

Your chair may be garbage, but your back pain may be due to anterior pelvic tilt caused by "shortened" / tight hip flexors and weak glutes, weak low back, and weak abs, caused by too much sitting (more so if your posture is bad or you're sitting wrong in your chair). Buying a new chair is good, but by itself it won't fix the underlying issue of your low back pain and weakness.

Ideally you should make an appointment to see a Physical Therapist to correct the muscle weakness and tight hip flexors. In the mean time, gentle stretching of the hip flexors (especially with a foam roller) and some basic body weight exercises (e.g. bridges, ab work, etc.) will do wonders to correct issue and alleviate the pain. There are several good Physical Therapists on YouTube that have videos on this topic and how to correct it.

As someone who used to suffer from this problem, for the same reasons, I can't recommend going to see a Physical Therapist more highly.

Abby replaying RDR2 on Xbox, is LMAO. It's barely noticeably better versus ps4 pro. Play the PC version! If you have enough money for an overpriced iMac, you can easily afford a decent gaming PC.

I think she is replaying it just because she likes the game and it's on GamePass so why not. Also when I played and beat the game on a base PS4 and then replayed the early bits on my XB1X there was a pretty stark difference between the two.

Agreed with Alex regarding Children of Men and Julianne Moore, she didn’t seem to be part of the same movie. That always stuck out to me as the minor weak point of that otherwise excellent film.

I'm gonna be playing Sea of Thieves on Steam because the Windows store is simply terrible. But there's way more reasons why the Steam version is going to be better. It's not going to be UWP so it's going to be easier to tweak settings (I assume modding is not going to be a thing because it's a live game), using any kind of controller is going to be easier because you can just let Steam handle that. And chatting with friends is more convienent, because of the Steam overlay.

While I will defend the XB1 UI cause once you use it a bit it’s really pretty normal and easy to use (apart from performance) - the store stuff on a PC is kind of nuts and bad. Like you can browse games on the Microsoft.com store OR through the dedicated Xbox website and they show ostensibly the same stuff but the Microsoft.com store is more detailed and clearer to read. But on the Xbox website they show your Gamertag and on the Microsoft website they show your Microsoft ID even they they’re both linked to the same age old Hotmail e-mail account.

It is so bizarre to log into anything Microsoft related in 2020 with an @hotmail.com e-mail address.

I was shocked to hear a bag of crisps would last Abby - and others by the sounds of things - a week! If I've bought a grab bag (granted that'll be once every couple of weeks max) at least 3 quarters is gone in one sitting, if not the whole bag. I'm with @vinny on this one for sure.

@vinny 1 Billion Seconds of GB content is almost 32 years, how time flies! On a serious note, we all forget just how hard it is to perceive how rich a billionaire is, how far away stars are or even scaling back to millions how long apart different dinosaurs lived.

@nameredacted: Through a combination of a lot of sitting at a desk for 20 years and a bunch of sports injuries I was diagnosed with a bulging disc in my lumbar. Physio along with adjustments to my workstation have basically healed me up, but it took a good year.

My workstation now has a proper desk chair, a sit stand desk, and a footrest. The goal was to have my setup as ergonomically correct as possible.

Why do people think now is not the time to play Pandemic? You get to be on a team that will defeat global pandemics. It's the perfect escapism at this time when we are helpless against COVID-19. In the game, you get to fight a pandemic head on. Sidenote: Pandemic is sold out everywhere. Game sales skyrocketed with COVID-19's spread, so I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Vinny holy shit please just look into good office chairs man lol. I don't get how these guys don't have any thought of that or knowledge given all their office work. Gaming chairs are not the answer here. i mean better than a terrible chair but just buy a real chair like an adult and save your back.

My Steelcase Gesture just came in to save my back as well and its been great. Look into something from Steelcase or Herman Miller.

I've listened to every episode since the beginning of Beastcast and will continue. Love the content. You guys are the best podcasters in the world. Loved seeing you guys irl.

I'm not sure these times are the best for this but here are a couple of mine, irrational or not:

• Stepping on HIV infected needles
• Choking on fishbones
• Being shot into space and running out of air
• Dying old and alone

I might be able to list more but man that is kind of a dark topic especially these days. Thanks to Vinny and Alex for giving a pretty straight answer.

EDIT: I would also hope most adults realize that sturdy non-designer furniture might be a little expensive but it will probably last you 20-30 years at least. Try doing some pushups and pullups Vinny and put in the effort to find a proper office and dining chair? It's the same with beds and shoes. You shouldn't skimp on that stuff if you don't have to, IMO.

Certainly a choice (and a good one). But, I don't think those reasons are actually that much different, other than the store can have issues. Have you had any issues with controllers? I haven't on WinStore games. Which settings are you pining for? Most of the ones missing early on are there now. And chatting with friends (especially when it's run through Xbox Live, rather than Steam), is as simple as the Win+G game bar overlay. No more laggy than the Steam one (not saying much) lol.

I think it's great that it'll be on Steam, and I do think the experience will be better there for most. But also, have you tried the WinStore in a while? It's not as bad as you make it sound.

What I image Vinny's kitchen table is like....

UWP apps are just flat out broken for a lot of people, on my previous PC I couldn't even get Windows Update to start, because they turned it into an UWP app in Windows 10 and they just flat out don't load on that PC. Jason and Jeff have mentioned the same issues - Jeff most recently being unable to install the Windows 10 UWP version of Minecraft, and it has been a commonly reported issue with Windows 10 ever since the beta days in 2014. While those apps thankfully work for me now, my understanding is that they're still widely broken for a lot of people, and given the experience I had with that stuff being broken (along with all my purchases from the GFWL days disappearing), I definitely will never trust the Windows store with any money.

I chose Requiem for a Dream as a date movie for an evening with a girl a really liked in high school... I'm still not sure why.
