This being Japan, the speedometer is in km/h. 35 km/h is about 22 mph. I don't know how much more believable that would be for Alex, but the pedant in me couldn't let it go unmentioned.

Vinny's sense of direction maybe be the most frustrating thing of all ?

Vinny's sense of direction, or lack of any sense of direction to be honest, actually scares me.

I've had about 9 motorcycle crashes in my life time as I do track days and often come off lol. My head always hits the ground, my hips and side torso always hit the ground and twice I've hit my shoulder and broken my collar bone.

My legs have never hit the ground and neither have my hands.

As someone who rode a lot of horses, chaps are good for diverting brush from hitting your shins and knees so they don't tear up your jeans, or you. If you've ever seen mesquite trees, or felt the wrath of black locust thorns, you'd better have chaps on.

The Nice Guys is GREAT. Hands down movie of the year for me, it's hilarious... I really don't understand the lukewarm reception it got.

Also, surely the map is not THAT hard to read... bloody hell.

HAHAHA! Remember everyone commenting that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was the movie Vinny was thinking about? Bet you all feel really silly right now knowing that they resolved that mystery long before it turned this community crazy. It all comes full circle. Thanks for this feature. Keep up the good work.

@joe423: Yeah, I actually researched it after making that statement. Apparently there's still quite a few island states that use it. And Antigua & Barbuda and Costa Rica use mph for speed but kilometres for distance. Which is all kinds of bizarre.

@paulunga: Canada uses metric for absolutely everything, on any official document and in school ect, but if you asked anyone their height or weight they would reply with imperial, and probably have to look at their drivers license to get the answer in cm or kg.

If they hadn't used such an awful video cable like component, they'd have been able to see that it says "km/h" right there on the speedometer.

The Nice Guys is that new Shane Black movie and it's OK albeit I think it's rather weak. Some of the dialogue is great, the girl character is actually pretty endearing, and Ryand Gosling and Russel Crowe have some good chemistry too, but I think Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a far superior film. It's worth watching once but I don't think you'll get anything out of it a second time.

It's Shane Black firmly in his comfort zone.

Leather chaps are not actually good protection for motorcycle riders. But chaps are usually worn by guys who ride cruisers - and those guys don't generally wear anything that actually protects them unless they're legally obligated to (like states with Helmet laws). But even when they have to wear a helmet, they often wear the least protective helmet possible.

Chaps don't protect you very well because if you come off a motorcycle, you will sometimes slide a long time on your butt. And as Dan pointed out, chaps have no protection on the seat - so it makes no sense to wear them on a motorcycle for anything other than style.

My moto protection consists of Leather or Cordura over 100% of its construction, then there is extra padding on the seat, knees/shins, elbows, shoulders, and back.

But I ride sport bikes and sport-adventure bikes. If I was on a cruiser, I guess I would wear as little protection as possible because that's what's 'cool'.

I'm being very sarcastic there. I wouldn't ride a cruiser.

Good god, 24 of these? Where should I start with this massive series or which ones should I skip if any?

I've wanted to see a playthrough of shenmue since I quit playing it back in it's day but 24+ hours of it seems a little daunting.

Okay I need to know, are we close to the end? Is there another 5 episodes of fork lifting ahead of us?

@chekhonte: You can skip around at your leisure to be honest. Most episodes consist of this general layout:

1- guys have a specific thing they need to do or piece of information they need to uncover

2- talk to every NPC about it until they get a new journal update

3- after a cutscene or fight, kill time until the next in game day to either progress with objective or start a new one

Mix in some random filler activities like arcade games and you've got the gist of it. And don't get me wrong, I'm not shitting on the game or this Endurance Run and I'm just trying to be honest about the game's flow. Like Dan I went apeshit for this game when it first came out but unfortunately it doesn't exactly age well or even make for good watching, especially when the player doesn't have a good grasp about what is and isn't doable in the game.

All that being said, I would suggest watching the first few episodes to get the basic plot (since it doesn't exactly deviate from "I must avenge my father, where is Lan Di") and then skip through the series. Or you could even treat this like a podcast and keep it on in the background since aside from fights there isn't a whole lot to pay attention to other than the dialogue.
