I bought the book, but have yet to read it. I'm going to download this and listen to it when I make time to read it.

I would love the idea of a Giant Bomb book club, so it would be cool if this turned into a semi-regular thing.

I listened to most of the Alt+F1 podcasts, but never watched more than a clip or a race or a crash.

The book is great, the movie is fucking terrible.

Sphere is one of my favorite books - it's been over ten years since I read it, but I still remember it all in great detail.

Fun fact: The abridged audiobook version of Sphere is shorter than this podcast.

Sphere was a mixed bag for me. I thought Crichton went to a well he likes to go to one too many times and I saw how the sausage was made. It was an alright yarn as far as they go otherwise.

Fun fact: I saw Sphere in the movies — at a premiere invitation event, no less — and left the cinema bewildered by how flat that movie ultimately was. It does some cool stuff in building weirdness and tension and a claustrophobic atmosphere, but boy does it all just fizzle into a puff of messy nothingness by the end.

This is a schlocky, but great, book and quite intense from what i recall. Also why do i get the feeling this is dan's favorite book?

I'd love one of the martian next but i fear it'd be too similar (if way more grounded in reality)

Also as far as sci fi goes i cant stop thinking about interstellar and want to talk that up but i totally missed the zeitgeist. The fucking soundtrack, fuck...

Aw jeez I heard you guys thank a nameless twitter person and I thought you meant me :( I figured it came from when I sent dan a tweet during an early metal gear scanlon about how cool a movie/book sphere is and he should check it out.

I liked the Sphere movie. I never got around to reading the book (which is funny because at the time I read a ton of Michael Crichton books).

Just as a prediction before I listen to this- they don't like the movie. Because it seems like no one, but me, does =P

Finished the book yesterday and the movie this morning...timing is perfect.

Sphere's a great book and an easy fun read. You guys should do Congo next.

I read the book about seven years ago and remember absolutely nothing, yet I am so pumped for this podcast!
