$15 really does seem like a great price for such a polished game.  Most of the stuff you typically see on live arcade doesn't look nearly that good.

This game is great! It has a really good balance to it.

Agreed.  It's been a while since I played a proper Battlefield game, and I wasn't that thrilled with the direction BF2 took with everything being unlockable.  While I'm one of the minority that liked 2142, it's of little use when nobody is playing it and I'm left with bots.

1943 is a great game that captures what made that Wake Island demo one of the most played demos of all time for PC.  I hope they plan to expand the game either via DLC or some form of sequel that covers other parts of the campaign.  There were a few maps in Europe that were staples as well.

Now wheres that reborn version of Tribes I read about?

wow I was 10 when 1942 came out. I remember going to play that with my buddies at the cybercaf, until they all got into CSS and other and I went back to console gaming

The lack of the angry yelling solider on the cover depresses me, but I guess it makes up for it.

This game's awesome. I also love all the BF2 fans that are raging over it, shit's funny.

I'm still holding out until the PC version comes out.

I love how they re-used a lot of footage from the Quicklook for the video review, just shows how resourceful the Giantbomb crew are!

Download it right fucking now! As a BF fanatic, I'm loving the new action. The formula has been tweaked enough from BFBC (and of course the PC games) to keep things fresh. It's only 15 bucks, and has 4 maps. If there was any benefit for buying it twice, I would (well, probably not, but it's worth at least 20).

This will keep you occupied over until BFBC2 comes out. And that should keep you at least until BF3 gets a date. BF3 could be quite a ways off. I'm sure they're going to examine the reaction to 1943 PC before they lock-in a lot of things for BF3. The BF formula is evolving and a lot of PC gamers are very set in their ways. Just look at the utter refusal to give 2142 a decent chance by most of the BF2 hardcores; and 2142 was the most dynamic, balanced and replayable of all PC BF's.

In fact I was just going to go play a few rounds of 1943 until I started thinking about 2142. I think I'll go play that right now instead. 420+ hours deep and still loving it.

Sequel to BF1942? Ehh, there's so much stuff missing and so many things that have changed. I'll just mention a few omissions.

• Drivable carrier.
• "Go, go, go!" in Japanese. 
• Destroyers.
  
• Submarines.
  
• Proper AA guns.
• No dragons dropping explosive turds or jumping monster trucks for balance.
  

Game is great.  If you are some sort of crazy purist expecting the variety that a retail version of BF would have, then you're out of your mind and are missing the point anyway.  But if you are looking for a cheap but fun game that has a lot of depth and gives you a rewarding and highly replayable multiplayer then look no further.  This is fun for 10 minutes or an hour, or more!

Good review, I was stoked when i got this and found out it wasn't a dumbed down, cheap battlefield.

Yeah I wasn't going to get this.  Then I found out it was $15 and was not a crappy rip-off map pack but a full game.  SOLD!
