Coming out of Fire Emblem, I was pretty sure that nothing else would top it for me this year. Then Control happened. Holy shit, what a game!

@ripelivejam: it's one of the best games I've ever played. One of the few games I will play again after finishing because the moment to moment game play is so exhilarating and immensely satisfying to smash everything. The hype is real.

@frytup: thanks I kept searching for info and this eluded me prob because it's from a week ago. It's the only exposure to social media I really get is reading their tweets so I miss it in a "I don't engage in social media but whatever" kinda way.

Nervous laughter at how obscene and brash someone's actions are should not be misconstrued as condoning it. Behavior that is way past acceptable feels absurd and can cause someone to laugh or chuckle at how ridiculous the actions are.

I don't know about this new Jeff guy. We already have a Jeff on the Beastcast. Having two might be confusing for some folks. We should call this new one Brett.

In the off chance that Jeff reads this given his currently busy lifestyle and hasn't already heard about these, you can get cat claw covers. A popular brand is called Soft Paws but there are tons of options that might be better. They're little rubber covers that come in various sizes that you can apply over your cat's individual nails to stop them from scratching, and shouldn't cause any problems as long as they're the right size, so they won't impede retraction or mess with their movement at all. They last a few weeks and come off naturally as the nail grows.

They were being pushed heavily by vets and the animal shelter in my town because they're trying to put an end to outdoor cats due to how much damage they cause to bird populations. They're a popular temporary option for outdoor cats to at least get used to being indoors. I definitely think there's better options for most people in terms of protecting furniture and all that in the long term (proper training), and if your cats are real outdoor cats that roam for hours and get into fights and stuff, you don't want to leave them defenceless, so they should keep their claws.

But if you're concerned about the baby getting injured it might be worth the peace of mind until baby Gerstmann gets a little older and the cats get more used to being around the baby. If you're unsure about application or correct sizes I'm sure your vet or even some pet groomers could help you out. But again, it's not right for every cat so really you'd know best.

Of course the first Bombcast with Jeff back has me in tears...

I learned to drive in a manual transmission car, drove it for about 6 months, and never drove a manual again. When moving to an automatic, I never thought about it, I just used my left foot for brake, and my right for gas. EVERYONE who ever notices, knocks me for it, but I have literally an impeccable driving record and have never had a problem result from it (unlike most of the people who would knock me for it). I am glad Jeff's back. That said, he seems to be overhyping Control. It didn't seem that great in the quick look, neither in the gameplay videos I've watched.

Also if your PC sounds loud, it's most likely because your fans are old and in need of replacement and not because the components are old.

I think it's one of those games that you have to experience for yourself. That's my takeaway, at least.

This is the first time I’ve agreed with Jeff so much on a game in a while. Control just took RE2’s place as my GOTY and will probably keep that since there isn’t much else I’m interested in this year.

Also, the crew really handled that serious discussion admirably. Everyone has their own stories of personal tragedy and you hate hear about these stories of abuse, yet it’s important to acknowledge and call out shitty behavior. My heart goes out to everyone involved who is going through turmoil.

A new card with raytracing is probably one of the reasons.

Listening to the allegation story was very frustrating. They all seem to talk about it broadly and have conversation around it, which makes it hard to actually know what they are talking about. Have they come in support of these women? Have the condemned harassment online? Have they talked about mental health which they all suffered before and after?
