I finished Outer Wilds about a week ago. What a fantastic little game. Totally came out of nowhere for me.

Same just finished it two days ago. I fucking love this game story and style. Cannot recommend it enough.

I'm glad Abby nailed what really makes it uncomfortable about eating on mic (besides the sound being abhorrent to me): the food perverts.

What is the spoiler level of this playdate? I hear that I shouldn't learn too much about this game if I'm going to play it myself

I finished this Game last sunday. What a cool ride it was!

Definitly one of my favourite games of all Time.

I'm only about a 1/4 through OW so not sure I should watch this :S

Played 20 minutes of Outer Wilds on Game Pass and bounced right off it, but this actually made me really eager to go back!

Adding my voice to the chorus of folks calling this one of the best games yet! It so effectively fills me with enthusiasm for forging ahead into an unknown future that I specifically want to say "best game yet" instead of "best game ever."

"Crushed in the butt" sounds like part of a Chuck Tingle novel title.

The "imagination" level of this game is off the charts, that's for sure.

Every new planet is a spoiler I would say.

This is easily my Game of the Year so far as well. I LOVED nearly everything about it. Not a great game to play on a stream (I had fun watching it, but I mean its probably not best experienced when you are trying to "be entertaining" and skip a lot of the minor details).

This is a really cool game. The only complaint I have is that the difficulty level is pretty uneven. It seems very easy at the beginning but end game stuff requires you to replay quite a bit if you screw it up.

@sirdesmond: I echo this so much. Outer Wilds came out of nowhere for me, now it's easily among my top ten favorite games of all time. GB West seems to be sleeping on it right now, I hope they get a chance to delve into it over the weekend!

@stevenwallaby:I felt the same way but it caught me around an hour or so into it. However I kind of regret playing on Game Pass because performance on the base XBONE is on the border of being unacceptable at times. If it was an action game I would say it is over the line.

Such a wonderful game. Definitely going to be a contender for Game of the Year.

Does this game have any combat?

I enjoyed this, but I do hope they go back to Abby's playthrough of RE 4 sometime. I was enjoying it a lot!

is it me or has the volume been kinda low lately

Watching this made me want to not even give this a shot. I'm a big story person, like Vinny is, but there is absolutely nothing appealing about the gameplay. Plus, the NPCs shown in this video don't seem to be characters; but rather another part of the environment. They could be paintings on the wall with the same dialogue. It just all seems dull to me.

@k9: I can see that. It's not for everyone. I really like the sparse, atmospheric design; it's calming and horrifying at the same time.

One thing I do not like is how when you translate text, it doesn't *stay* translated - on your next run through it's hard to know if you've already looked at it or not. I also hate the entirety of Ember Twin.

I wish this game was on the Switch (or even PS4) so bad...my PC just does not run it right for some reason and...I need to sell my Xbox One as I haven't played it in years and like...not keeping it for one game. :\

I love this game so much. It absorbed me in a way few other games have in years. This will almost certainly be my game of the year.

Very glad to see Abby and crew take a longer look at it, though all the reading makes them feel boring I love it.

I'm so conflicted on this game. On one hand, with the way people build it up, I'd like to give it a shot knowing fairly little.

On the other, I only have a PS4 and switch as have no idea when/if it's coming to those consoles so there's part of me that wants somebody to just spoil whatever it is that makes this game "greatest of all time" status because what little I've seen from the quick look and such, I'm not seeing it.

I also wonder if this game is going to be like Undertale (or maybe even Neir: Automata for me) where the people who discovered it "out of nowhere" build it up WAY too much for people who didn't and that without the low/no expectations/total surprise it's not as special.

@epidehl: It's more like Portal than Undertale in that respect, if that means anything to you. It's definitely possible to build it up to the point where it won't make an impact but...I think the threshold is much higher.

I'm with Vinny in that it's a ton of fun watching someone explore for the first time and seeing it happen in a completely different order than I went through. Though for my money these opening hours of the game are the best part when you're discovering a ton of things and exploring entirely new worlds, and making the set of initial set of findings.

Once you get to the point where you're trying to find one specific thing on a place you've already explored, or having to replay significant chunks to get back to what you wanted to look at, the game starts to drag. I wish there was some ability to set a memory marker or something to let you replay from a point instead of forcing you to go all the way back through a potentially long sequence just to get back to a place you mostly explored.

Can anyone tell me what kind of game this is? What do you do in the game? What is the gameplay loop?

I like this game, but I'd be sad if we didn't return to RE4. I'd really love to see her reactions to where that game ends up going.

@monoespacial: It's an adventure game basically. You are set free to roam this small solar system and you go about picking up clues and solving environmental puzzles like "how do I get up into that room?" The bulk of the gameplay is reading - which helps you learn about what has happened in the past or how a particular puzzle might work - and also a bit of very light platforming.

It's kind of like playing a space archeologist. You go around ruins and decipher the fate of a long gone civilization through bits and pieces of lore. This information gradually builds up to give you a better understanding of maybe how to deal with your current situation in the present.

It's a space exploration adventure game. You go out from your base, travel to different places to uncover information, that information usually provides leads on further places/people/concepts to discover, and eventually use all the information to learn the history of the places and solve some grander mysteries. As for the loop, every time you die you retain the information you learned (both in your head and in an information map on your ship), and then you go back out to attempt to find more.

I'm down with this but man I was really hoping to get some VinnyVania Bloodstained content

I think if the concept of sand flowing between a pair of binary planets, or getting sucked into a wormhole that lives inside a planet doesn't excite you, then you probably won't enjoy this game. Its very much about exploration and discovery. Nothing about the graphics, story, traversal, etc. is inherently awesome on its own, IMO.
