He always responded to my bombcast emails even if they didn't get read on the air. Will definitely toast him tonight.
Ryan Davis
Ryan Davis was a GameSpot editor and co-founder of Giant Bomb. He was solely responsible for founding batmanbatmanbatman.com and cocainemountain.com, and went by the online nickname of "Taswell." Ryan passed away on July 3, 2013. He is gone but never forgotten. We love you, Ryan.
Raise your glass in memory of a fallen duder.
@sgtsphynx: Honestly dude, I'd just remove the mention of the internet being crazy this week in a memorial thread. No need.
This.
And in memory of Ryan, bottoms up. Miss that man dearly.
I will raise a glass of my best whiskey when I get home from work. Same as I did one year ago today.
Raising my glass. It had to be water cause it's fasting (Ramadhan) month for me. He'll always be an inspirational person to me. I've learned how be a proper host and started my own internet podcast. I've learned a lot in life overall because of you. Thanks Ryan. Cheers to you.
Thanks for everything duder! I still listen to old podcast regularly and it's still bringing me a lot of joy. I'll raise a glass today for sure.
This always makes me laugh a little, then cry a little, then repeat about ten times.
We miss you Ryan!
Ryan is still a big part of my life, I watch and listen to the videos and podcasts he's in daily and I'm not letting him rest because of it. This is what you've wrought, Ryan!
I can still remember the horrible sensation coursing through my entire body when I heard the news last year, It was the worst because I initially thought it was a joke until I scrolled down my twitter feed a little further. Still in complete denial hours after the fact, I think we were all desperate for a tasteless hoax...
Still miss you Ryan. Thanks for everything.
Man, I can't believe its been a year already. I love the QL's Alex and Vinny put up today. My thoughts go out to the crew today as I'm sure it won't be an easy day.
Wow. One year. I had lost someone close to me the day before we were told about Ryan's passing. I was a mess. I never met the man, but I greatly respected his work, talent, and sense of humor. Watching all of the old videos and mourning with everyone here helped me through a really dark time. I could always rely on Ryan Davis and the crew for that. No matter how shitty my life was going, I knew I had someplace to go where I could forget it all and smile. Even if only for a few minutes. Without having the pleasure of knowing him, he was often a part of my life. He's touched all of our hearts and will continue to be missed.
Goddammit Ryan Davis, you are still the funniest, wherever the heck you are now. *raises huge bottle of Diet Coke*
I'm not much of a drinker, but today calls for a nice Eagle Rare. The King of the Driveway and the King of the Summer Jam. That's a lot of responsibility for one man but he wielded his power well.
To echo the sentiment of everyone else, I never could have expected to be so bummed out with the passing of someone I never met. I will miss Ryan's wit, and his immense joy for life, dearly - but I'm sure he would have been ecstatic to see how he is being remembered, and how the site is still growing from strength to strength. RIP, Duder.
As for the pictures, I happened to be in Edinburgh last week, and when I saw the place called Ryan's, I just had to check it out. Even more awesome was the mural they had on the side of the restaurant - the likeness of the man in the photo ain't perfect, but damn if it didn't bring a smile to my face.
One of my fondest memories in the days after Ryan's passing was seeing this tweet from TNA Wrestling superstar Samoa Joe. It just shows how large Ryan's reach was even outside the immediate circle of nerds like us that lurk on video game websites.
RIP Ryan Davis #GiantBombForever

@csl316: Can you tell me what panel that Ryan Davis Tribute - Standing Ovation is from? Is the whole thing online? I only see the Cards Against Humanity one out on the interwebs but this seems to be a different panel.
Oh hey, I found it. PAX Prime 2013.
