I don't believe anything is going to happen with you. Firstly, I don't think there's a way to detect any difference between the copies sent out for reviews and the retail ones. And secondly, even if there is, I doubt they would punish a player because a store broke the street date. You could genuinely be someone that didn't even know it's not supposed to be out yet, saw it in a shelf and bought it.
Alright, I have to say, without spoilers, I just played the demo level (in the actual game) the whole way through and it was much more fun and I'm digging the game overall right now!

Go ahead and play it all you want. It's not illegal or frowned upon to play the game at all. You're the consumer, Capcom is happy you bought it, they don't give a crap if you have it early. However, they probably HATE whoever you bought it from.

Call me crazy, but I like RE5's controls because they AREN'T the same as Dead Space. Dead Space was my personal 2008 GOTY, but RE is a different type of game.

I dont think copying Dead Space entirely was the answer. With only having played the demo I do think that the controls should have been worked to keep Five current with that game play trend that they started with Four. I bought this game this morning but wont get to play it until tomorrow night. I had thought to buy it on X360 for ages (I played the demo on it) but in the end decided to buy it on the PS3 after loitering around the store with both copies in my hand for about 10 minutes.
I did get this totally sweet ass figurine though for my troubles. You could choose between Chris, Sheva or that big ass mofo with the axe. Naturally I chose him because he looked way more awesome then the others. I would have liked to get all of them though :( Have fun playing.
I got it on Monday and already cranked out 300 points on it which I've put online and I haven't been raped by Microsoft yet. I think you're in the clear. And yeah, the game plays a whole lot better than the demo for some reason.
No way dude, it's 100% retail. and again, after two days of playing, it continues to be awesome. If you like resident evil games, specifically RE4, you're going to love this game. No BS, it's straight up crazy fun. And my initial question didn't mean, who will i play online with, it was more of the does microsoft penalize you for having a game before the street date, which I am no longer worried about. Anyway, just have fun with it man! get it tonight!

If you really want to be safe you could just create a local account on your 360 and play it offline with that account. You wouldn't get any points for your LIVE account but you would be able to play the game and not have to worry about having your main account banned.
