Capcom managed to follow the thin line of respecting what came before while still adding onto a already great game 1

We are certainly in the era of the remake. Breathing new life into an old property is just a thing that is seen often these days. Whether it is done well or not is very hit or miss. Capcom has done this once before yet does that mean it can be done well again. Let’s see by setting up the world of Resident Evil 2.Two people wander into the outskirts of Raccoon City. Leon a rookie cop and Claire a sister that is worried about her brother. They know not of what horrors lie within its winding...

Resident Evil 2 is altogether terrific and frustrating 0

There’s a level of technical proficiency to this remake of Resident Evil 2 that makes dealing with its various frustrations somewhat easier, though the game is so close to excellence that I can’t help but wish the experience was a bit more perfected. It is a phenomenal looking survival horror game that is hamstrung slightly but uncertain voice acting and irritating combat encounters, and then practically obliterated by a late-game section that is more maddening than anything I can th...

The New Face of Old Evil 0

The Resident Evil series has a long and storied history featuring dozens of releases consisting of several different styles over the last couple of decades. This release looks at the last 20 years of experimenting and iterating, takes the best bits of each, and puts them together to build a beautiful Frankenstein of survival horror action. It takes the free aiming of the faster paced action era (RE4-6), gives you free camera control, and mashes it with the slower more methodical puzzles, invento...

A “Die Hard” of the video game 0

(35 hours total on Steam, seen the credits roll 5 times. Latest playthrough on the Deck being Leon first through in Japanese, 6 hours 23 minutes and 13 seconds to get the “kill screen”.)“They sure die hard” is a line uttered by Ada Wong when she shot a zombie as the player character in 2019’s Resident Evil 2 remake, or at least that’s how yours truly choose to translate that line from Japanese into English. Which got me thinking, Resident Evil 2, both the 199...

A grand example of how to do a remake right. 0

I had never played the original Resident Evil 2, so my expectations going into the remake were low but hopeful. With multiple modernized touch ups and quality of life enhancements, a 1:1 transition from original to remastered this ain’t, but what’s been lost from the old school has been gained with an excellent take on a well-established entry in the Resident Evil series. A welcome surprise was how Resident Evil 2 (mostly) avoids the folly of other horror games within the last few ye...

A Great remake of a beloved classic that should appeal to fans of the original or newcomers. 0

As far as perfect sequels go, I think the original Resident Evil 2 ranks among the best and it's easy to see why fans of it and of the series have been wanting a remake for ages. At it's core it remains truthful to the original but very obviously adds modern tweaks that manage to fit in well to balance out the gameplay which I will briefly explain. The defense items (knives and flashbangs for example) do well to give you an extra chance when you do get let off your guard by the occasional zombie...

You Have Once Again Stepped Into The World Of Survival Horror! 0

Going into this I personally did not have any high expectations for this one after playing the past few entries into the series and not really enjoying them, the last good Resident Evil game was probably back on the PS2 with Code Veronica. Thus deep down I did not want a remake as I was sure it would go bad and to make matters worse Resident Evil 2 is by far the best in the series, or for a better word my personal favourite in the series.Resident Evil 2 was my very first horror game growing up ...
