The Beginnings
Quidditch Manager started as an idea between the users Cygnus and Corvus in a Harry Potter-related MOO in early 2011. It was envisioned as a text-based game, but quickly taken to the browser platform and continued by Cygnus, releasing the first version on August 24th, 2012.
Gameplay
After creating a team, managers find themselves with a handful of rookies in the bottom division of the quidditch championship. Apart from controlling squad lineups, strategy and training, the user commands their team's infrastructure and finances, along with player trades. Trying to find the right approach for long lasting success is one of the key challenges of the game.
Matches are simulated once per day and include two championship and up to two exhibition fixtures. The Club World Cup is played every four seasons.
Players evolve their ten skills through training and match experience and age over time, which makes them decline in skill and retire at an advanced age. Top-level skills in key stats for each position, form and proficiency are what make a player stand out among others and it is these players who form a successful team, aspiring to claim the Honour League or World Champions title.
