@xMP44x: I read about it somewhere at the time and the ending leaves everything half finished. Mafia 1 had an amazing story and conclusion. I thought Mafia 2 had a horribly flawed story in that you don't make it anywhere in the mob - you're hardly anything more than a goon for hire and then you become even poorer living out the remainder of the storyline in a shitty broke down apartment. I thought the Mafia 1 storyline of a slow but steady clime to power and then seeing the people you used to admire are not as great as you thought was great - not to mention that amazing ending.

The original game was absolutely fantastic, I agree. I enjoyed the second a lot though, and didn't mind the flaw in the story. I actually didn't mind playing the lackey in the family either. The fact that you did play a lackey for the majority of the game and you never really got into much power was a nice touch though, in that I felt there was something realistic to that. Not every Mafioso would get into the family in a big way and that was a feature I felt the game managed to convey really well. It was flawed in that it didn't always make for it being all that fun, though the story managed to deliver on everything I'd have wanted. It even left me with a few questions: obviously, what about Joe, and whether Henry really was on your side or not. That would make an excellent fire for 2K to fuel if they want to continue the franchise in a meaningful way.

Mafia II suffers in a similar fashion albeit the ending was supposed to be released in DLC form and it never was. While the original is one of my favorite games of all time the second game in the series suffered from a bad story all the way from the very beginning.

Was it actually meant to be continued in DLC? I'm surprised by that. I thought the ending they had written was a beautifully cruel twist and that was it. If they didn't release a DLC for it though it gives me hope they'll get some brains working on a third game, for Mafia II is a contender for one of my favorite open-world games. I hope we see a third game even if it isn't related to the first two. I love the effort they put into creating the game and the time period. Admittedly there were a few things I wish had been done differently but the game was that good I'd let every single one of them slip for a sequel.

From memory I haven't actually been in an argument with anyone else on Giant Bomb. I seem to manage to just skirt around the fringe of the community when it comes to drama like that. I've interacted with people and we have discussed views, but I don't think I've ever actually had a proper argument with anyone on here. I suppose that is testament to the community though.

EDIT: Because Accept's awesome! STALINGRAD!
Yes.
I listened to that song just now and was like "Hey, it's not bad".... then they did the cover of the Soviet anthem. Well now, I'd be lying if I said I was anything other than impressed.

Isn't there a trusted team of wiki contributors to approve this kind of stuff so that this nonsense doesn't even make it to the game page? If not, there should be.

Andrew has it right. I remember the first night I spent on Giant Bomb. I hit the 1000 Wiki Points mark in a single night so I'd say it is a possible goal to achieve very easily. People can reach it quite quickly by just writing content but then again there are other ways people tend to use to make it more straightforward for themselves.

I edited the wiki pretty religiously in the not too distant past. With all the stuff ongoing in my education at the moment though I haven't had the same time. That, and some of the Parchment v2 bugs leave me with some real difficulties. I still use v1 for that very reason. Once you get into the wiki editing you never get out of it again until you've rewritten entire pages of content.

If it comes out this year I will be really, really surprised. Grand Theft Auto IV was scheduled for an October 19th release and was delayed. I remember it being October 19th since that's my birthday, and my plans for my birthday basically were "Get GTA; forget outside world". Unfortunately that didn't happen, and it was released in April of the following year. I've never remembered a major Rockstar title that released in the later half of the year. Midnight Club: LA and the other Q3/Q4 releases were never destined to be Rockstar's famous titles. Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV, even L.A. Noire all released in the earlier part of the year. Not only that but you can notice some areas of the city which were not modelled fully during the first trailer released for the game. If it's October I will be overjoyed.

I haven't tried writing a novel, though it seems like it would be interesting to do. With that said, I have read that the best thing to do with the first draft is starting to write and continuing. You just need to make it flow and continue writing until you have done some work into a routine. If you feel the need to go back and edit you can do so at another time. The first draft should get the plot down and then it can worry about getting everything looking flawless. As for the concept of an Irish character during the Prohibition it would be an interesting one due to the changes that had been ongoing in Ireland during the period. Being from Northern Ireland I am familiar with some colloquial 'Irishisms', so if your main concern is making your character relate to his environment I can try and be of aid to you, duder.
