  • Except for maybe DOTA2 there hasn't been a game I have spent this much time with in a long time. I love how it is purely mechanics driven and each monster makes you rethink how you hunt. It is also probably one of the best co-op experiences ever!

  • A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda title, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that I love this game. Even ignoring all the nostalgia this game hits for me it is still just amazingly put together. I really like what they have done to how items are handled in this game.

  • naughty Dog has delivered another excellent title. Surprise! It's beautiful and ND was able to create something that doesn't feel like "just another zombie shooter". Especially if you play on hard it really delivers on the survival aspect. On top of that it tells a strong tale that isn't really about saving he world, but about characters. Also the ending is just incredible.

  • Well Rogue-likes seem to be a theme for me when it comes to these lists. This one impressed me with it's humor, the tight controls and a hint of Metroidvania. Including some form of meta-progression is also very smart and helps to soften the blow of dying.

  • Nintendo delivered another excellent SRPG in the series with Awakening. I think the story was probably not as good as it could be, but the lovable characters made more than enough up for that. Which is good because it makes you think even more about your turns because you don't want to lose any of them.

  • This game was probably the most unique one I played all year. Giving you a mundane task and intertwine it with the storyline of this communist state that oppresses people was genius. It makes each day of work count and your mundane work becomes more important than it might seem at first.

  • The last Pokémon game is really played a lot was Blue. I tried getting back into the series with Diamond but that game just quickly bored me. The sped up progression of this game and how the different systems work together this time just clicked with me. I can see myself sticking with this game for a long time. Also for Nintendo the implementation of the internet is just great. Why can't they always do that?
