My All Time Favorites

A list of my favorite games from around 1980 onward. Last updated in Jan 2013.

List items

  • My All time favorite. I still play it on my NES from time to time even after the release of Rearmed (which I love as well).

  • One day I hope to finally finish this! I've been saying that for 20 years now.

  • My interest in RPGs started with this game. That is why I still enjoy turn based JRPGs to this day and really love Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey. A FF7 remake would make me run out a buy a PS3 immediately.

  • (Franchise) Great, great franchise. Simcity IV:Rush Hour + the NAM mod = the perfect game. However EA is stuck up the SIMS franchise and appears to not care about Simcity at all unfortunately. Sim City Societies....let us not speak of that abomination. :-/

Fast forward to 2013 - The new Simcity releases in March.....I'm hopeful but I think the always online requirement is a dangerous misstep. I still play Simcity 4 after 10 years. Will EA guarantee that the servers for the new Simcity will still be online in 2023? Looking at EA's recent record I would say no.

  • I love turn based JRPGs but this Western style RPG has occupied many, many gaming hours for me. Like Oblivion the first time you look come to an overlook and see the wide area open for you to explore......wow. Unlike Oblivion I was able to finish F3 AND completely explore the entire world. I'm still working on Oblivion..I get soooo distracted in that game.

  • The newest addition to my list. I never really played the original but the new one took over my PC for quite a while. And like Civilization....I just keep playing and playing and playing....

  • (Franchise)HL got me interested in FPS. The scripted 'live action' scenes were like nothing I had ever played before. Just like my Ninja Gaiden pick, this represents the entire series as one of my favorites. HL2 is imho one of the 3 greatest games ever made.

  • (Franchise)I have lost countless hours...make that days playing Civ.

  • This includes CE and CE:DX. I liked the original and remember buying books as a kid, trying to learn the patterns back in the day. I can't put my finger on it but something about the CE keeps me coming back to it.

  • (Franchise) Really this is for the entire series starting from the NES games which I still occasionally play. Always hard, always frustrating, always sooo rewarding when you can finish off a tough boss or a preform a certain move. I have yet to finish NG2 for the 360 but I'll come back to it this summer.
