So, my fiance knew a guy that, well, in my opinion, was still hopelessly crushing on her. He happened to work at Gamestop and we milked that shit. He said he'd hold one for her (me), which I was almost sure went against half a dozen company policies or something. It finally came in and we just so happened to be on vacation six hours away. Since he could only hold it for a day, we enlisted her mom who and picked it up and dropped it off at the house for us. I added a bit of a finder's fee for her trouble.

I was playing it, scrolling through the myriad of games and legal ways to finally play Starfox and Yoshi's Island and just throught "Oh no, did I just spend a hundred dollars for 20 games I've already played back in the day and rebought on the virtual console a time or two?" but then slid up that power button to click and it all felt so right. Then I ordered 10ft extension cables off Amazon. Welp.

It was probably too much trouble in the end, but I'm fine with it overall. Well, not for me. I just sat on my ass on vacation while everyone else did the work to get me one. I'm the worst.

I was very surprised at how badly I reacted to the game, considering I was pretty interested in it. The combat was awful, for reasons that I could go on about, and made me wonder why even have it at all. I also had an incredible aversion to the narroraters's awful whispery-voice. I absolutely know that was intentional. What i'm not sure about was thinking that the voices inside Senua's head were awfully helpful for tutorials and combat. Their decision to put "mental health" on so many advisories and cram allusions to it in every sentence just ended up rubbing me the wrong way. Blug.

Its a luxory of getting to a point where i have a little disposable income, but ive found that I like "pretending" im the reviewer with no expectations going in, other than a general excitement of whatever it is. I jumped into the first game day one and really enjoyed it's structure and thought the grind was fine for someone who played the game a few hours a week after they beat the game.

Had i just sat there and listened over and over to the sea of disappointement before jumping in by doing the "right" thing and reading reviews I think I would have looked at some of those systems differently, and actually not enjoyed the game as much.

I like the technical tracks of HD and Fury over the later 2048, but now being able to play them online I felt a little better about those tracks. It took me a dozen races or so to no be last so I guess the people that like wipeout online, really like wipeout online.

Haha, as someone who used to buy ungodly amounts of video games on the summer sales I've toned it down in the last five or six years. Probably the only thing I'd bite on is Wildlands, since it's relatively new but not something I'm hanging full price on. I spent about half full price on Steep and even that seemed like a fairly big ask.

Where were all these people that enjoyed Prey and liked Tommy when it first came out? I was in college at the time and remember most of my friends sort of played it one weekend and had pretty tepid reactions or didn't even finish it. Not to mention the critics really didn't care for it either. Were sales there either? I don't think so.

I liked the idea behind Prey 2, but I have no fond connection to the original or the main character from the original. At this point, just let it die and bring that idea to something else or just ignore it altogether the way they did Red Dead Revolver.

With Rivals I reached the point where I have played more bad and disappointing Need for Speed games more than good ones. It's time to bail! EA sacrificed Burnout to make two great games (Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted) and after sacrificing Criterion for God knows why, I'm very, very skeptical of dropping any real amount of money on a NFS game. The reactions I've seen to any information out there are tepid at best.
