@wetvein: Why single out Alex? Four of the people participating in these deliberations had the game in their personal top 3. Two others had it in their top 10. There was a push for the game from others at the table; it wasn't just one person holding their breath until the rest relented.
It just happened to be the most divisive game discussed and, consequently, took up the most time. But it was pretty clear that both Ben and Jeff had their own interest in seeing the game slotted highly on the list.
I'm on Team Jeff. This was a difficult conversation to follow. There seemed to be 3 or 4 different running interpretations of what "World" meant in the context of this award. The one I thought it meant was along the lines of what Jeff was saying: a sense of time and place that isn't purely about geography. A setting.
Nothing wrong with their definition of the award being something else. However, it was never clear to everyone in the room (and apparently the people listening, judging by the rest of the comments) what definition they were rolling with.
w/r/t the self-destruct stuff in chat: Self-destruct does not kill you. Chat was adamant about that. It causes an AoE blast and changes 2B's outfit while knocking your HP to 1. It's just a silly command, not a Game Over situation. If you feel the chat was too into backseat gaming is one matter; Although Jeff and Jason didn't seem to mind, I can understand how that gets annoying to both streamers and viewers. But some reactions to the self-destruct command specifically seem to be overblown.
I wound up discovering that the mortar cannons kill a Skull in two or three shots alongside their A.I. struggling with vertical movement. It's been a while since I played so I might be misremembering the number of shots it took.
The previous mission was one of my favorites. It's a pretty heavy drop-off going from a stealthy mansion intrusion to bullet-sponge Skull fight.
