I finally got to work on my first feature film. It's not as glamorous as it sounds, but it was a cool experience none the less. My task to color and light about six different VFX shots for an upcoming film, which will go un-named for now. For the first part of the job, I had to apply textures to models with some additional UVW work and texture painting. However, the most time consuming part was lighitng. Each shot had to be carefully light so the render output matched the specific lighting direction of the scene. It was pretty hectic work and took about three weeks of 10+ hour days and just getting two off. The irony is, I always wanted to do this type of work when I was a kid. I wanted to do the old school stuff, like the stop motion and pupets in star wars and when CGI came along it crushed my dreams of getting into that line of work. But, after many years of walking down this strange path, it actually happend.
That's right, I got married two weeks ago. So far married life is good, although it doesnt feel much different. We've owned a house over a year, been living together for two and have a dog and cats, + flying squirrel and rat. If you dont think you could live with someone for the rest of your life after all that, then its not going to work. Luckily I found that magic formula. Its also nice to have someone who tollerates my gaming. I managed to beat Dead Space on Hard almost twice. But, I have changed somewhat, spending quality time with her has top priority over gaming. After all she is the person I like hanging out with the most :)
Damn it finally, happened. My stereo got stolen out of my car. Technically I dont live in a bad area despite the close proximity to the Detroit city limit (5 miles). But after 6 years someone went through my car parked in my driveway and took it. Fuckers!!! The jokes on them however, my radio is password locked when the power is disconnected. So it will never work again unless I get it back, which wont happen. Anyways, it all happened because I parked my car way back from the garage and forgot to lock my doors. Long story short, I was moving dirt, dug up wasps, got stung x10, went to home depot to buy dirt and wasp spray, then got into the moment of killing wasps, forgot to lock car. Shit happens. At least I got a free radio from my wifes boss.
I dont know if any one has heard, but the mayor of Detroit is a straight up thug. Sure he was elected twice, but thats not saying much. He's been in hot water ever since he had this huge party at the mayoral mansion a few years back...I mean that never happened. Any way, there were strippers, drinking, drugs, oh and a whole bunch "respected" members of the community involved. So naturally they wanted to keep it secret. Good plan, except one of the strippers at the party was murdered later the same night. The same night after she got into a fight with the mayors wife when she arrived at the party seeing her man get a little to freaky. She was found in a car, Shot a bunch of times by a police issued glock pistol (forensic ID the gun type). All that aside, Kwame fired the cops who were investigating the party incident, and they sued the city. They won $8 million. During the trial the mayor said under oath that he never conspired to fire the cops, nor had he had an affair with anyone he worked with. It turned out both were big fat lies. Text messages obtained by the Detroit Free Press showed months of messages between the mayor and his chief of staff (female). They were getting it on so hard, and testing little love notes about each other. I think there were 14k texts in a month. The Mayor got busted and was indited on perjury and obstruction of Justice. Since he is out on bond, he cannot do anything that breaks the law, even a little violation will be a big deal. So what does he do? Two detectives issued a subpoena to the mayors sister the other day, and the mayor just happened to be there. He got all roid rage, and tossed one detective (he is white) off a porch. Then Kwame yelled at the other detective (she is black) "How can you be a black woman and be on this case? You shouldn't even be riding in a car with him, with a last name of White.". This is the same Guy who four months ago said the N word on TV and cried that the white media was out to get him. Now he is out of jail on a $7500 bond. Charges to follow for assaulting an officer. He should give up politics and enter the fighting ring."So you've had a bad day"
Ok, so I've been painting my bathroom, going five days. The motivation isn't there, and it doesnt help that I just hate to paint. It should come natural, I went to college illustrate, i.e. paint. I just hate the home improvement kind of painting. Sure it looks better than that Jackson Pollock wanna be shit we had before, but damn. Still pending, another coat on the ceiling and cupboard doors. Oh, and the new ventelation fan was too small. So back into the attic I go :( I told my Father in law we could always make the hole bigger, but no, he said it would be big enough. Ok, he is off the hook, he let me drive his new challenger. :)
