I was feeling very pessimistic about things when Jeff's departure was announced, but I'm feeling better overall now after watching this. Even if I do still find the atmosphere surrounding the departure a bit odd! But jeez, I have no idea how I'm going to keep up with all these podcasts now.

I joined Giantbomb on day one. I haven’t really been following for the last 3-4 years though but when I read that Jeff Gerstman left I had to hear his new podcast and this again. I don’t recognise many of staff and for me the glory days for Giantbomb will always be the first years when it was part of Whiskey Media and Ryan Davis was still alive. I’ve missed a lot. I didn’t know that Dan left. Has Brad left too? I remember Drew leaving and that was sad. I guess Abby left as well I seem to recall hearing about it but at that point I wasn’t regularly visiting GB anymore. Hope you do well but I’m not sure if I will stick around. Maybe I’ll watch some of the old Whiskey Media videos again if those are still around and not behind a paywall. I’d like some kind of recap of what has going on since 2018 or so and who the new people are etc and maybe I’ll visit GB again bit I feel a bit lost like when you load an old save and can’t remember any of the characters or quests or the gameplay. I watched pretty much every video you guys made the first 10 years and classics such as the Persona 4 ER and Drew and Dan playing Metal Gear Solid will forever stay with me. I loved the community and I hope it still is as good as it was. I still rock my old GB and Whiskey Media T shirts and they still hold up well a decade later after a lot of use. Sorry for the rambling but all this happening remind me of when Jeff left Gamespot back in the day and did the Podcast with Ryan David that led to GB and there are a lot of great memories so it is bittersweet.

Edit: Another memory I have of GB is when Patrick did an article about me or at least about my condition. It was fun to work with him on that and see GB make an article about people like me even if I did ask to be anonymous and I doubt anyone remember the article after a decade but it meant something to me.

Yeah, you've missed a lot! It might be best just to peruse the wikipedia article on Giant Bomb for a quick rundown, specifically the history section. Brad, Vinny, and Alex all left the site a year ago and are doing their own thing together called Nextlander.

As a former resident of Champaign-Urbana, Jess is absolutely right about the difficulty of finding Boar's Head meat there. It's bizarre! I think I remember finding a Schnucks on the Champaign side that at least carried the Boar's Head peppered salami. I can't remember if they also carried the deli meats, though. It wasn't convenient for us to go to compared to our nearby Meijer.

Metallica was my first favorite band not long after I started getting into music around 10th-11th grade in the early 90s. By the time St. Anger came out, though, I had moved on. I've never heard the album in its entirety, and I actually have the two albums that came afterwards, Death Magnetic and Hardwired...to Self-Destruct which I do like.

I've heard the title song, and remember there were actually some things to like about it. I look forward to hearing more about it on here.

I didn't watch the episode on Van Weezer since I don't really know much about Weezer, but I watched this one...and as a longtime fan of Danzig, or at least early-to-mid 90s Danzig fan, this was great. I remember actually being excited about the prospect of Danzig covering Elvis since it always seemed like such an obvious thing for him to do....but yeah, everything they said about it was spot on. And my expectations for that album were low based on his prior two releases, which were not great at all either.

Oh well, at least the older stuff is still good, as cheesy as it is.

Great first episode, and great choice for a game! I remember seeing coverage of this game in EGM or GamePro when I was a kid and thought it looked neat. And not long after entering high school, I met a friend who had a lot of games and systems, and that's how I finally got to play Target Earth. Truthfully, it was probably about a year from the time I read about it in a magazine to actually playing the game. And goddamn, it was hard as hell. I don't know if I ever saw past stage 3.

But stage 3 was so cool! If you were skilled enough, you could lure enemies to the bottom of the level and they'd burn up in the atmosphere.

I tuned in for the live stream of this, but had to leave at the first ad break because of covid vaccine-related tiredness and took a nap. But I finished the podcast version just now, and what a great way to end it. Thanks to all of you for providing years of entertainment for me. There will never be anything like this.

Oh wow, that Jai-Alai commercial takes me back. I moved to Florida in the mid-80s and defintiely remember Jai-Alai being advertised on TV. Not sure if I saw that specific commercial since I lived in south Florida and Ocala was 3 hours away, but who knows. The song sounded familiar!

A classic! It'd be cool if someone else picked up the torch for Ben and tried to play through either Rogue or another classic roguelike.

This has been a great series. I look forward to the finale!

I noticed parts 9-12 aren't in the carousel at this time; hopefully that gets fixed!
